I have been told it's Remington Core Lokt 100gr. But I don't know anything. What does the wisdom of this board say?

One placed through both lungs is gonna be your answer.

I've probably killed well over 100 deer with a 243. (Shot a lot of them out of soybean fields under depredation permits at night). And I used to shoot Federal Premium 100gr bullets. Don't remember the exact style. But they do fine on deer, hogs, etc.

I’ve been using Federal Premium 100 gr Sierra Gameking

I’m watching for the 85 grain Federal Trophy Copper to try them

And Ballistics Studies likes the 95 gr Hornady.

Any modern hunting bullet is just fine for a whitetail.

I'm a fan of Hornaday American Whitetail in any caliber due to accuracy, price and availability (present times excluded of course). It's been very reliable for me in 243, 7mm08 and 308.

I'll occasionally shoot Winchester Super X and have had no issues with them either, but my very unscientific observation has been that the Hornady rounds perform a tad better for me.

100gr Hornady American Whitetail for me personally but i’m partial to that Interlock bullet. I run them in all my guns except my .35 whelen (Nosler Accubonds). They have shown to be extremely accurate and hold together very well for a (crimped) cup and core bullet especially when compared to the other bullets i’ve used. That said, supposedly the Nosler Ballistic tip was designed with the .243 in mind so it’s probably excellent like other Nosler products.

If you use a 243 the deer will just flinch and slowly walk back towards you nose flared and beat you down with judi chops!!!!

Federal fusion wil keep this from happening

What an ignorant take. Thousands of deer, elk and bear get killed every year with a 243

A Ruger M77 mk ii .243 was my first deer rifle and while I have other rifles now, I still hunt with it from time to time. My girlfriend killed her first deer with it this year. She made a great shot and it ran 25 yards from point of impact. Blood trail was great.

My favorite bullet has always been the Barnes TSX 85gr. My rifle shoots them well and with good shot placement you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between that round and any other higher powered round when cleaning a deer. They rarely go far and the TSX gets food penetration and I have generally always had good blood trails. That said, I lost my first deer with the rifle this year but it was a bad shot on my part. I hit the deer low. Still recommend the rifle and the bullet though.

That would be my choice. Great bullets for fast calibers. I think I liked the tipped version even more.

Remington went broke and I’m not sure that ammo production is back up. Find a bullet that groups well in your rifle and go with it.

100gr Nosler Partition. Lots of other great bullets out there but if your looking for the bullet to exit then this is your answer.

Whatever you can find at the moment. Any hunting bullet from about 80 grains on up will be fine. The thing you have to watch with .243 is that you don't buy some light varmint grenade as there are plenty of those available for the caliber. Hell even those will kill a whitetail more often than not, but exits are not likely. they're not tough critters. I've been using the Hornaday whitetail 100gr interlocks because they were stupid cheap at one point and my gun likes them.

Nosler doesn't make a 115gr 6mm partition, but the 100gr would be a good choice but pricy if you can find them.
