Does not compute. No gun is too nice to use for anything
I’d prefer to keep my guns looking like new. I leave the blued classic Wood stock guns at home when the weather is bad and use guns better suited for bad weather.

Yep. I'm not dragging my midas grade a-bolt out in shite weather.

I'm not sure when this trend started of treating guns like China dolls. If you aren't taking the nice hardware out on the hard hunts you're missing out.

What am I missing out on, damaging a finely crafted functioning piece of art? What would be the point of that?

My son has been shooting a Beretta A300 Ultima in 20 GA for the last couple of years for 4H. We have found that it does not reliably cycle the Winchester white box, but a few other kids were having the same issues with the ammo in their semi-auto (Weatherby I believe). It has the kick-off recoil reduction system byt I removed it to give him a shorter LOP. I have been very pleased with the gun overall and would recommend. I shoot a Winchester SX4 in 12 GA and have no complaints on that gun either.

Was thinking the monetfeltro but didn’t know if it was “too nice” to duck hunt with?
Back to this, the benelli wood stocks have epoxy finishes on them and are extremely durable. They are the best wood stocks on shotguns that I know of. Their bluing is excellent and they use good steel for everything. The price has gone up a lot (like everything else) but it's still the best value for a high end shotgun IMO.

I'm not suggesting you go drive fence posts with it. You're missing out on using a piece of art the way it was intended to be used.

Still doesn’t make sense to take a fancy blued gun out in terrible weather if you’ve got other options.
Just like if I’m going to be riding around in a sxs with a chance of beating something up I’m not taking my better rifles I’m taking an old savage or something.
More like use the tool that’s appropriate for the situation.

Right. I'm not driving railroad spikes with a ball peen hammer.

Trade that rag in on a Browning Silver micro Midas and enjoy your days afield!

I'm pretty partial to the Benelli M2

Escort
I picked one of these up in the youth model for my son a few years ago and i carried it on one rabbit hunt and ended up buying myself one. Cheap enough that if it gets dropped or scratched you're not pissed but we have yet to have any malfunction at all. They are great little guns, and they accept rem chokes. My son will be using his with an Indian creek and a custom TSS blend this year for turkey season and I'm pretty excited for it.

My favorite is the M2
But if you still like your M1 that Wolff spring exchange will absolutely fix your issue.

I have 2 benellis , 2 berettas , and 3 older Remington semi autos . 5 years ago I bought a stoeger o/u condor . I love it and its about the only gun I shoot now .

I'm gonna get a Stoeger M3020, 20 ga. from Bass Pro. I've been using a Stoeger 3500, 12 ga. for the last 4 duck seasons and it's worked fine for me.
No idea where it may fall in ranking the best.

I have a Beretta AL391 in 20g Had it since around 2003. Has never misfired Added front and rear recoil dampeners and it’s a nice shooter

I have 2 Remington 1100 LT's from the mid 70's. I can't remember either ever having a feed problem and both have been through 10k or so shells.
I do wish they had replaceable choke tubes though. That wasn't a thing back then.

I just bought a SBE 3 20 and I absolutely love it. I really wanted the M2 but couldn’t find it in a 28 synthetic so I went with the sbe3 and I have not been disappointed. I love everything about it. The feel, the weight and the way it cycles. I’ve shot a ton of low once shells and it hasn’t missed a beat.

Some tab in it was out of wack. Shoots like a dream now.
