Looking for a suggestion for a brand / type of plastic lizard to throw.

The highest priority for the bait is being heavy so I can cast it as far as possible while fishing it weightless. The lizards I have are all very light and I cannot cast them as far as other baits like a 10" (thick bodied) worm or fluke.

I am looking to use it as a search bait to throw over the top of thick vegetation. Covering water is the highest priority.

You ever try putting on one of those little lead weighty things in front of it?

Some are shaped like a little bullet if I remember right?

I think that would help.

ETA: Oops, I see you said weightless. I got nothing for you.

I can put a small weight at times and get away with it. (heaviest i can use is a 1/4 but i typically just use a 1/32)

Area i fish has torpedo grass which is very thick and wire like. If the bait drops down in it it tends to get stuck and is a pain to fetch out. If the bait is weightless it will glide over the vegetation.

Zoom, with salt, best for this technique. If you need to modify anything, modify your line, like braid to flouro/ mono for distance and sink rates....

Go find a custom hand pourer and ask him to add extra salt. I used to do this for customers back in the day when I poured.

It sounds like the salt adds weight? To be honest I never paid much attention to salt vs no salt.

---
Janky I will look into a custom pour - my need is fairly specific so this might be the best route

---
CamdenTiger - I will pickup a bag of the zoom with salt next time i see them.

Zoom magnum lizard or Big Bite Baits Kriet Tail Lizard.

Both are 8" lizards. - little heavier than the standard size.

Those larger sized lizards look like something I will also pick up. That bigger body and size will certainly cast well.

You can find some 10" custom lizards online also. A little more pricey though.

For the Biffle O Lizard - do the feet have 'paddles' if so this looks like it would make a lot of action?

Regular zoom lizards are easy to cast weightless.

yes, it does have paddle like feet. This lizard has a ton of action in the water and the colors it comes in is pretty impressive as well. My favorite little thing about this lizard is the "butt hole" on the back side of it. It allows you to put a rattle in there to give the bait an extra feature.

I'm extremely biased but I would go full sized brush hog. If you find the tails get wrapped around the grass clip them off.

While Zoom is by far my favorite, for this I'd go with V&M.

Zooms have plenty of salt -- don't think this adds any weight, but fish seem to hold onto them longer than baits w/o salt.

Zoom is my go to with Big Bite probably being next. I think, as a poster said earlier, there are 8" varieties in both.

My only concern at this time of year is that smaller baits often tend to work better in colder weather. Of course that can vary a bit. If I want a bit more weight, I'll often insert a small worm weight of even a clipped off paneling or finishing nail just to add some weight.

Good luck, whatever you're using.

Salt absolutely adds weight. It also creates a a little harder bait.

I will try inserting nails - one of the issues with a bullet weight is that the nose digs under the grass and catches - with a nail the back would be heavy and hopefully put a slight lift on the nose
