I'm in central La. Maybe the woodies moved north. But 3 and 4 man limits are easy right now

Just about anywhere in Louisiana where you can find oak trees that flood or partial flood after rains or during high water. Get yourself a Haydel wood duck whistle, figure out as close as you can what time it gets too dark to shoot where you are, wade into flooded oak timber bottom, hide near a large tree, about 10-15 mins before it’s gets too dark to shoot put your wood Duck whistle to your lips and blow it a couple times, within a few seconds proceed to shoot wood ducks until your gun barrel is glowing, use a flashlight and pick them up.
Wade out of woods and encounter game warden waiting at your truck, loss gun, license, hunting rights and a bunch of money when you visit the Federal Court house with the guy setting behind a bench who tells you what all you did wrong.
So I’ve been told......

Definitely a cool sight. I saw around 100 land in the LSU lake not too long ago.

My son and I fill those wood duck houses on the LSU lakes each year with Aspenwood shavings. About to do it again this weekend. Two years ago, we found a box full of eggs that woodies and mergansers filled and incubated them. Before releasing the fledglings, I called LWF and asked if they wanted to band them before I released 'em and the officer told me incubating and releasing them into the wild was a federal offense. Me: "Opps, wrong number". LOL Maybe I should have put them in a gravy. We live on the lakes, I've counted more than 50 in front a time. Nesting boxes pay off.

Shooting time for ducks ends at sunset, well before dark.

North farm and south farm holding next to NO ducks this year.

Very true. Weird, usually they have a few and make for good nearby hunts.

Take your pirogue and float down a creek in a hardwood bottom. You will easily kill your limit

Better yet find a pond to hunt close to a creek...... They fly in in droves 30 minutes before going to roost

Yeah, the game wardens say it's been a terrible year there compared to past years. Lottery hunts are pretty much just wood duck hunts depending on what section you draw

I was definitely thinking about trying elm hall out. I fish Lake Verret out of Attakapas every now and then and isn't too bad of a drive. I'm guessing just camp out along one of the canals?

My family has property in Washington Parish with a creek running through it and several wooded ponds. Has a few wood duck boxes on it too. Only thing is that I've never seen a duck out there lol. Maybe I never get there early enough

Brush your pirogue and float a bayou close to you in a wooded area. Park a truck near the end of your route, launch your boat at the beginning. You’ll jump plenty of wood ducks hiding in the brush along the edge of the bayou around every bend, hiding from the current. Be ready to shoot though, they get up and out of there in a hurry.

I live in Baton Rouge and a point in the right direction would be awesome.

You want to kill some Wood Ducks? You need to point yourself North, like toward Monroe.

If you are serious, you will be able to take it from there.
