Very subjective. What’s your budget?

Buy a Blem PSA, put a Vortex or Sig red dot on it, buy a sling, a few spare mags, and spend the rest of your budget on ammo .

Go search their website palmettostatearmory.com, find the gun you want, add to cart.

Once you add the gun to the cart, you’re going to be asked which FFL you want it shipped to. They usually have some FFLs listed that they have their paperwork on file and the process is seamless.

If you prefer a different FFL, you will need to contact them (FFL) and ask them to send their paperwork to PSA.

When the item ships, it will ship to the FFL you chose, and you’ll pay a nominal fee, usually $25-40 depending on who you use.

The local FFL will process your ATF paperwork like any other gun purchase and you’ll be on your way.

Blem PSA

OP you can buy a complete blem lower and complete blem upper and snap em together.

Coat like 400-450 before shipping and FFL fee.

With a budget like that build your own. You could build a stupid nice rifle for 1500.

I’m building a 6.5 Grendel right now. Ordered a complete lower from PSA that has a high end 2 stage trigger

Could you post the links for what is needed? Also would this everything I need except for magazines and ammo?

Did this. Was about 420 back then. It’s MOA with Troy iron sight and A2 front post. Exceeded my expectations so much I did the same with a 6.5 Grendel and it’s been equally impressive. 3 holes touching at 100 yards. Did that twice to make sure it wasn’t luck.

Buy extra 30 round mags and ammo separately.

What are you using the gun for? If you go with 5.56:

Defense/ hunting larger game: 62-77 grain
Shooting at the range/ small game: 55 gr

You can go to academy and get the Winchester box of 200 55gr for $0.60/round

I’ll help you out.
First link is the only item you need shipped to an FFL. The rest you can ship straight to your door.
PSA blemished complete lower with a slightly upgraded trigger

PSA complete upper with charging handle and BCG

Between these two you will have a complete rifle.

Throw this on top for a decent little red dot Vortex red dot

Then you just need a couple mags and some ammo.

That’s a nice rifle for about 650

PSA's QC is pretty mediocre at best now because they're pumping out so many products.

If you don't have any mechanical ability or knowledge of the platform to fix some of the issues that may go wrong down the line (ie, gas blocks and castle nuts vibrating loose), then you may want to look at a better option like BCM or FN, etc.

Is this basically the same gun. I am undecided between this type and a standard AR-15.
