I realized a few days ago that my newest rifle will not fit any of my hard cases. I decided if I have to buy a new one that I might as well drop the money on a good travel case. Mostly just transporting to the farm but occasionally plan to fly into a few western hunts.

I know the Vault series isn't as waterproof as some other pelican lines but just wanted to make sure it was good enough for airlines and occasional bad weather.

If I need to bite the bullet and spend more I will but don't have to have the best just to say I have it.

I've used them as saddle bags on a previous motorcycle I had - very rugged, water/dust tight, took a beating and held up well. I wouldn't hesitate to put my best rifle in one

I have a Vault for my cz22, overkill I know. They have one hell of a military discount though.

What did you use to cut the foam once you traced out the gun? My cuts never seem to be that clean.

I don’t know if the Pelican hard case I have is a Vault one but I’ve flown with it with shotguns several times for hunting trips. Never had an issue and they hold up well.

I also did not get clean cut lines like dude above. I just traced out the guns with white marker/chalk or something and then used an exacto knife. Definitely not the prettiest thing but it works.

I have that same case set up for 2 rifles just like that. I used an electric knife and it worked perfectly.

It comes with two layers of foam, so I have this configuration and one for a shotgun and accessories. The case is an absolute beast.

Just buy the OG Pelican, it's only about $40 more from online stores than the Vault. I just went thru this whole ordeal when looking at hard sided rifle cases. I was about to but a cheap one but decided against doing so and went with the "buy once cry once" motto.

Can I ask where you are finding the OG pelican for 40 more? I can grab the vault for 209 before tax but can't find the storm double rifle anywhere under 319 with the foam. For 40 bucks more I'll jump all over it.

I own 3 of the original pelican 1750’s and they are awesome. If I were looking to save a few bucks for similar quality Id grab an RTIC. Case is quality but the foam isn’t as good as pelican. They made it in layers.

I know the foam looks cool but I took all the foam out and put my guns in the hard outer case with each gun in its own soft case. Protects them just as well and when you get to your destination you can pull the gun/soft case out for vehicle transport and leave that big hard case back at the hunting camp.

I have the double rifle Vault and I love it after I made a few mods to the foam. Only issue is the damn thing is so heavy.

They claim you can drive over the case with a truck. What they don’t tell you is the case has to be closed.

Gun zone deals and battle hawk Armory right now has the 1700 for 210. And the 1750 for 233.
