I just got a whole trigger group of an MP5.

I now need to get busy and order all the other parts for this thing.

Where do I start? And how do I tell which one I have?

ETA: this is one of my dream guns/bucket list guns. It's an H&K with 6 H&K mags.

If that's what I think it is, no unfortunately. I wish though but that would be worth somewhere around 50k or more

You can start by taking out a second mortgage.

Was told a couple of weeks ago that a transferable in good shape is worth ~$50-60 now.

You pretty much need to buy a whole gun. You can’t really put them together yourself like an AR. Depending on which mp5 model you buy, your trigger pack/ lower may not fit because some models have clipped and pinned lower housings and some use push pin style.

If you have to ask, it's probably best to sell your trigger pack and put the money towards a clone like a PTR.

Ha! You don’t know me very well. I’ll research something to death and then jump in fully.
Have no issue throwing money at things I want. Looks like I will have to buy a flat and a flat jig to get the upper started.

Zenith makes a good replica. Better than PTR.

They're both made on HK tooling from HK blueprints, except Zenith is made in Turkey, while PTR is made in the US.

Do you know how to weld? If you can handle doing the spot welds, you could build one. RTG parts and HKparts.com sell complete build kits with flat.

They are not cheap and cost wise and effort, you'll be better off buying a good clone but if you can spot weld and want one built by you then...

My FIL can and has a good press I could use for shaping the flat.

My understanding is the parts kits are typically German. I wish I knew how to weld. Oh well.

I have been building guns for a long time and have built all kinds of stuff. The MP series is at the tip top of the difficulty scale. Pressing the barrel in and getting the magazine release correct are difficult and critical tasks. I have three of the Zenith (MKE manufactured) MP’s and they are excellent. I was issued various real deal HK’s in my former life and the Zenith guns are every bit as nice.

For the money you will spend trying to build one, I would seriously suggest you just buy a Zenith and Form 1 it into a SBR.
