I need to buy me a good dirt RC car. I still have an old 1980something R/C10 in my closet (a classic) but it hasn’t run in 30 years. On my land I built a small motocross track for my grandkids with some jumps up to 3-4 ft. high. One of my son’s friends who brought his kid over to ride also brought a couple nice RC cars (both electric and gas) - the track is perfect for them.

Expensive hobbies but pretty cool. Not trying to hijack your thread but in West Houston there is the George Bush park with sporting clays, shooting ranges etc... Not too far away they have a proper little airfield and viewing area for RC planes, helicopters, etc..

A few times a year they have RC jets over there and I always stop. They have an onfield flight controller, limited access onto the runway, and lots of fire extinguishers. These jets sound like F16s. 5-7 ft in length and come screaming by at over 300mph.

Mesmerizing.

I use to have a gas powered rc truck and 4ft long gas boat. Both were very fun. Expensive, but fun.

I think electric is the way to go now a days.

I have a drone now and love it.

Dewd... I've been jones'in' for a nitro truck/buggy for me and my little man for a while now. I got a cousin (Cosby) that has a nitro car and it's sweet.

We've got some Traxxas Slash trucks.......even with brushed motors they're good for 36mph. Fun as hell.

Now, the brushless setups......holy shite.

My son has one. Wants a lipo and brushless motor for Christmas. Also wants to deck it out with the aluminum parts. I am in the process of building him a little track in our yard. Hell, I might get one, too. A LOT of fun!

Traxxis Slash. $160 with battery, controller, and charger. Get a plug in charger as the one in the box is is for auto cigarette lighters. Less than 200 out the door. Freakin fast and fun.

I had a Traxxis... 15 minutes of fun, 6 hours of charging batteries.

Circle track slot cars were my thing back in the day. Had a late model and sprint car.

I used to race an Associated RC10GT at a track on the Westbank of New Orleans back in the 90s.

Got into 1/8 scale buggy racing when I got older.

Hope my son gets into it. The off-road racing in Tampa is really big.

I use to race 10th scale dirt electric then got into 8th scale gas dirt cars. It was pretty expensive but fun. We had a group of about 10 of us that would traveled around Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida to race.

I was into RC my whole childhood, and for my last graduation from LSU my parents asked what I wanted as a present. I had moved to Si Valley and it was concrete everywhere. I got a fan cooled, four stroke, two speed on-road car…still have it, although I lost all my running gear in Katrina. I need to get it running again, it’s crazy how technical it is.

lol. Nope. more than 20 mins of driving and less than an hour of charging, depending on charger.

There's no way in hell I would be able to keep up with which way I was supposed to be turning. Unless they have a small camera mounted with a display on the controller.

Who made that kit? I have a Muegen-Seiki electric and plenty of nitro 2-strokes but I haven't found a kit with a 4-stroke.

It was the modern Kyosho FW kit at the time, 2000. FW-03 GP Four was the chassis. It didn’t come with a body, just a crazy box of parts.
