Ram has had lifter and exhaust manifold problems for a long time now, along with their typical BS.

Toyota had blowing apart engine problems.

They are all heaps of shite these days for what they cost.

Does it matter what the reason that the engine permanently stops running?

The point is, none of them are worth what they cost. Most people who "haven't had a single issue" don't even have 100k miles on their trucks. For what they cost, 300k trouble free should be the minimum expectation.

We'll never get that though, because people keep buying this grossly overpriced shite and trading it in for new ones before they make 100k.

I had to replace the transmission on my 2017 Silverado Z71 Off-Road at 110,000 miles. That was an expensive December.

My fiancée has a 2004 5.3L Silverado, I have a 2000 5.4L F-150. No cam phasers or AFM. 4L60E and 4R70W 4-speed automatics, both with B&M deep sump fluid pans. Mine has had a Gregg Evans-built Factory Tech valve body for years. My truck only has 81k on it but my fiancée's has a bit over 200k, neither has any issues.

News to me. The only titans I have seen with trans issues were the first year they came out. Nissan fixed that shite quick. Titan currently has the best drivetrain in any fullsize truck. It's a shame they are going away.

No, but with the updated CDF drum and a tune from Livernois or MPT they’ll be reliable annd shift properly and and hold 800hp+.

The GM transmission problems were caused by the displacement on demand they used back then. You can have it tuned to eliminate it and the trans is fine. My best friend was service manager for a GM dealer for 12 years and his tech does transmission rebuilds on the side. I'm, pretty sure the Ford and GM 10 speed are the same now, not sure if they still use DoD in the GM stuff, but the 5.0 coyote is an excellent engine.

Yeah pretty much everyone. 4L80s are just getting worn out with 200k+ miles and age. Newer 6 speed Chevys don’t make it past about 90k miles. The 8 speed trannies are worse than that. 10 speeds are probably worse still.

I'm trying to convince my FIL to get rid of his 2017 GMC with 42k miles on it before it shits the bed while it has value.

I have a 2020 Sierra, had to get my torque converter replaced. My son had a Canyon, just traded it in for an F150, because the transmission on it sucked.... Hard shifts and studder. Brought it in and GM told him that's how its supposed to drive.

My bro has a ‘15, said Chevy replaces with exact shitty torque converter etc. he took it to a shop on N Market in Shreveport and the dude puts a better torque converter and a few other better parts in with a rebuild.

To add to my previous post on displacement on demand, I'm 99% sure they said the constant switching of modes caused the torque converter to lock and unlock excessively. Any of you with those GM trucks look into having it deleted and your transmission will thank you. My buddy the former service manager had his go out on his 2016 and his master tech is the one who told him about the root cause. Rebuilt trans and tuned it and it's been flawless since.

Do you not remember the last thread where I pointed out you were talking out of your arse?

Oh... And that the tranmssion you were actually attempting to bad mouth in that thread...which never went into a nissan product... Was the Aisin 4 speed. A transmission that might be considered the most reliable transmission OF ALL TIME going in everything from suzuki shite boxes, to full size toyota trucks.

Stick to the topics you know buddy. The jatco 5 and 6 speeds and zf 7 speeds don't have issues. I have no experience with the 9spd.

Eta: my jatco 7 speed, which jatco only rates to 450 ft/lbs is seeing quite a bit more than that. Enough to push its 6500lb self to 0-60 in under 5.5 seconds. With 175k miles on it, still good to go. Only mods to the transmission are slightly boosted line pressure and a different fluid.
