Isn't it suppose to be one of the very best tasting fresh water fish?

How does it compare to sacalait, bream, etc?

I had fried walleye in what Yankees call a roll, we would call a Po-boy. Solid tasting fish. It was not seasoned well, but if it had been I think it is on par with crappie/white perch.

I spent most of my summers as a kid doing long distance adventure canoe trips through Canada and the NW Territories. I went weeks at a time where Walleye was my only protein.

It's the best tasting freshwater fish. Better than sacalait because it comes from such cold water. It's the perfect fish. Very clean fillets, no bones, none of that yellow fat you get in northern pike fillets. None of the oily texture of freshwater trout. It's awesome.

Walleye and Perch are two of the best eating fish in the world.

Grew up fishing the Great Lakes and Ontario. Salmon and trout were good eating, but not even in the same category as fresh Perch or Walleye.

BTW, we didn't even keep Pike unless it was a trophy fish because it was carp level terrible.

Ate a lot of it when I lived in upstate NY. Reminded me a lot of white perch. It's a sought after fish for eating up in those parts.

I've had it a few times in northern Minnesota. I thought it was delicious. Very white and clean tasting.

I'm from Minnesota and it's our state fish for a reason. The only fish I've had that tastes better is halibut.

Walleye is the best freshwater fish there is.

There is no need to get fancy with it. Fry it up and eat with lemon and tartar sauce.

It gets bonier the closer you get to the head while eating it. Be careful with those bites.

What choupique said. When I used to travel to northern Minnesota for work, the guy I fished with' wife would take the walleye we caught and cleaned while still fishing and dipped them in seasoned pancake batter. For being a cornmeal/corn flour snob, to this day, that's some of the best fish I've ever eaten.
