I had looked into this a while back but could never really find any free range that wasn't outrageously expensive.

I saw a hunting show a while back where I think they were in Northwest Texas where they were glassing up all Audoud. Wherever they were had was desert with good elevation, looked more like Arizona than tx.

that was out in west Texas then

Northwest Texas is so flat that on a good day you can see Arizona from your the bed of your pickup

Hey I said it's edible, not axis doe tenderloin edible

I had some aoudad curried which wasn't bad if you like stinky curry type food, and also had some ground mixed with beef cooked mediterranean style kabobs.

Well props to you for getting to that point past the skinning rack. The smell will just about knock you out. After cleaning several, I have not had the fortitude to try and eat any part of one.

are you guys going to pay to shoot a sheep?

The louisiana legislature just passed a law making it illegal to do the other thing that people keep sheep for so you could probably get a pretty good deal here in louisiana.

I don't know if I would eat it though

IF the uncle really fenced in Desert Bighorn Sheep, he ought to be put in jail.

Killed an audad around Burnett back when I was 17. The meat sucked but I still chug beer out of one of the horns and throw it at my brother to start fights at family events as is our custom

Edit: the meat is edible. That was the first and last canned hunt I've ever been on. I haven't shot one but I've eaten some eland antelope and it was absolutely amazing. I would hunt that in Texas just for the meat

A west Texas free range Aoudad hunt is the closest thing to sheep hunting that an average man can afford (unless you can draw a tag). I haven't been, but I have a great outfitter if you are interested.

yep...an aoudad hunt in Palo Dura canyon is about as hard a hunt as you'll find in the lower 48. lots of hiking, climbing, glassing and aoudads in the PD are extremely wary and sneaky.

it's real, deal hunting.
