It’s actually roughly 32 tons net explosive weight. And we didn’t drop any ordinances…no laws were imposed.

You have no idea of the history behind public lands. It’s about being a sportsman.
I totally understand, and there are millions of acres of public lands across the U.S. to enjoy. There are also a multitude of acreage that is public in LA when it comes to fishing.

To hell with the 6 year old in the boat enjoying what Louisiana has to offer
If you're teaching your 6 year old that it isn't fair then that's on you. My parents taught me shite wasn't free in life and I worked hard to get where I am today.

Those big bad landowners only care about a dollar. I think we have forgotten where we came from.
And that is their 5th amendment right. I own 0 acres of land in LA but I respect the right to have title to property and the right to do with it as you see fit. I'm sorry, but I don't want the government infringing on property rights. If you think it isn't right and you're ok with taking money making fishing/hunting/trapping leases from someone big or small you are a socialist.
Maybe if they change the name to Louisiana Socialist Coalition (instead of sportsmen) they could get some big money donors to help take away those big bad landowners rights?

You realize not everyone has access to a walk in cooler to be able to do this right?
I don't have access to a walk in cooler anymore, but I converted an old deep freezer with a cheap external thermostat like some people use for home brewing and just dial it to 40 degrees or so. The only issue is you have to quarter and then make some racks so you can hang the quarters.
Nutria is strangely decent once you get over eating a giant rat like animal. As for deer/cervids in general I think too many people need to get away from the fry or ground mentality. Try aging your meat hanging (with skin/fur still on) for at least a few days and then steak out thick cuts of the hind quarters. I like to cut 2-3 inch thick pieces and cook medium rare with just salt, pepper, and maybe butter for a sear. Same goes for ducks, don't overcook and treat like a steak.
For me I don't have any love for bear (greasy and off taste), catfish (since I prefer grilled/baked/pan seared fish), or squirrel (too damn small and too many bones).

Demon WP (wettable powder) for inside spider treatment around baseboards and cracks/crevices. Outside I'd go for permethrin/bifenthrin mix and make sure you get the eves/awnings good since the residual effect will last and deter wasps from building nests for up to 3-4 months in my experience.
Mix according to label and let dry completely and they're all pet safe as far as I know.

Like others stated, September/October is usually good but if you're wanting trophies I'd say between now and the end of May but that's all weather dependent. I've caught 3 trout over 7 pounds between Sabine and Calcasieu all in the month of May; definitely not trophies for some that fish regulary but anything over 7 for me is a trophy. If you want numbers really anytime late summer is good and if you want bigger limits go to Grand Isle and catch a limit of 12 inchers.

we actually had an Amendment to our Constitution repealed some 14 years after it was ratified by the states so it does happen
Civics lesson, you can't repeal one of the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution without a supermajority. An amendment can be added to supersede an element of the Bill of Rights, but now you're asking for 2/3 vote in Senate/House plus 3/4 vote of the States to ratify. How's that been working for the people trying to change the 2nd amendment? Take the blinders off and look at the big picture, because shitting on the Bill of Rights is about as un American as one can be.

Why worry about a duck pond during the months that you’re not duck hunting ....
Oh I don't know, maybe because they want to keep natural vegetation from being destroyed. Why worry about a deer food plot when you're not in the deer stand? Why worry about those crops you planted if it isn't harvest time? Can I borrow your wife/girlfriend when you aren't around too?
They're still debating amendments right now.
Those were the ones that were added to get it out of committee

Hey I said it's edible, not axis doe tenderloin edible
I had some aoudad curried which wasn't bad if you like stinky curry type food, and also had some ground mixed with beef cooked mediterranean style kabobs.

sounds awesome.. yet out of my price range
Look into Aoudad hunts out towards El Paso. They're cheaper and I think they make pretty cool mounts. Meat isn't the greatest, but it's edible.

Love seeing all this new blood in here.
I'll be here to stay after this blows over, just took something so idiotic to bring me out of the woodwork of lurking. Hell, if it wasn't for using my wife's (pics upon request for "public access" fee) Facebook to follow these geniuses I wouldn't have anything to entertain me lately while waiting for another hunting season.
The latest and greatest is boycotting all big business/big oil who vote no so that means a lot of those guys will be quitting their jobs and opening up some positions at the oil companies.

Ducks migrate. Not a good comparison.
Actually it's a perfect comparison since I can't access someone's property to kill those ducks without permission.
quote:
Same as sticking up a high fence (that deer can't jump).
No, it would be the same as low fencing your property and managing food plots to try and hold the deer, but they are free to jump that low fence as they please just like a fish can swim off private marsh into publicly accessible areas.

When you gate off a canal with public fish, you are de facto claiming those are your fish, and no one else's
Do fish swim? I'm pretty sure they can, so they aren't "locked in" those canals. I know of an exclusive high dollar hunting club close to where I hunt and they spent millions on water control structures to regulate salinity, have better natural feed/vegetation, and in turn I know they hold better quality ducks and have better hunting. Are those ducks now de facto "claimed" or can they fly off that property?

You had me confused with another poster I guess...I was just pointing out that your argument of trying to compare Louisiana with Mississippi doesn't make any sense. Arguing that point doesn't help any if the bill unconstitutional. Sure, it may pass, but then what do you argue when it gets overturned by courts?

The state of Mississippi disagrees
And your point? Isn't this Louisiana we're talking about? Texas is different too, which is why I still pay to hunt in Louisiana where owners/managers can restrict access and in turn create better duck hunting conditions.
All this talk about duck hunters should be happy with the bill is complete B.S. So now my lease will have less restrictions than a Federal refuge? Last I checked those are public too, but they can restrict access from October through February/March. So as a duck hunter, why in the world would I support this unless I was just a public land hunter that wanted free access to someone's lease? Example: my lease has no boats running around chasing bass/redfish in the months leading up to the season and ducks are everywhere in the surrounding marsh, but now you open that up until the day the season starts and what do you think the ducks do? They leave and find other areas with less pressure.

I have a question for the supporters of the bill. Are you ok with the government telling you what guns you can or can't own?
No? Then why would you want the government to dictate how you control access to property you paid for? From what I can tell from the Facebook crap being spewed y'all are the poster children of the snowflake millennial movement. "It's not fair, they're greedy and rich, I want my shite for free too!"
If y'all would at least admit your liberal leanings I'd have more respect for the movement for "access".
