Because you can carry a gun everywhere you go

In all honesty, I’ve thought about body armor because it seems like a cool think to own, but if I’m ever in a situation where I need to put it on real quick, I’m probably fricked either way.

Someone is busting into your house. Your family is in danger. Do you really take the time to put on the body armor before you grab the carbine and protect yourself and your family? I’m not.
Like I said. If you feel like it makes you safer or if you just think it’s a cool thing to own then by all means buy it. I, personally, think it’s silly and impractical.

Why does a home invasion have to be the only scenario to be prepared for? That and a mugging out in public. I get that its the most likely to happen out of all scenarios, but still.

Plate carrier doesn't work when your shot in your extremities or your head.

Plate carrier isn’t designed to protect head or extremities

The best is that scale stuff, it’s lighter and much more effective. Of course a think the army still buys the Kevlar plates. ( if you doubt me as a special ops guy, they used to buy it personally and wear it instead of the kelvar)
It’s all expensive.

Dragonskin, is it. The army was full of shite and made sure it failed test. They had to past law to keep black ops from wearing it which tells you everything you need to know.

But what about this?

H.P. White Labs conducted tests on Dragon Skin in May 2006. Even under normal conditions model SOV 3000 Dragon Skin failed to stop the second impact of M2AP. Then when the other tests were run, SOV 3000 failed multiple times, with the exception of the Salt Water test.

What the Army found, was that the individual Dragon Skin ceramic plates (the inserts that make up the "dragon skin" designed to stop rifle rounds) became ineffective after being subjected to those conditions. This happened because the ceramic plates are being held by an adhesive that fails in extreme conditions. In room temperature, this adhesive works well. However, when subjected to heat (120 F and 160 F), the adhesive fails. This adhesive fails in cold temperatures as well. (-60). In fact, it fails to such an extent that most ceramic plates fall to the bottom of the vest, thus exposing the vitals.

So if you are in the Sahara desert or Antarctica, don’t wear dragonskin. Got it.

I mean, I’m not going anywhere, but we all talk about having a gun hoping that we would never need to use it for self defense. Why wouldn’t consider armor in the same respect?
I guess I’m just looking for a scenario when you would wear it.

I have been in those bars...
Seriously...why would anyone not in the Military, law enforcement or organized crime need body armor? Surely no one would wear it all the time...it is UNCOMFORTABLE....I think instead of wearing body armor it'd be more advisable to start at home, eat well and never ever set foot outside. Ships are safest when moored to a quay but that isn't what ships are made for....

Isn't this what the left says about carrying a firearm?
To answer honestly, my biggest fear is being stuck on the interstate during a mass evacuation. I'm not a prepper but I am well prepared. I would hate to become a target because I have supplies others need but if I do, I want to be prepared to meet that threat head on and still return to my family.
