I saw it on the Lake Maurepas Boating Facebook page.
Apparently a lady fell out of a boat and got struck by a following boat. Latest reports are that she is still missing.

Alcohol and boating don’t mix. Add in a skinny winding river and boats that are meant to be in the GOM...and there you have it

That place on a summer holiday weekend is a total cluster frick. It's a miracle everyone doesn't die.

Body was recovered last night, holy hell that's about the 5th one this year, considering 3 last weekend and one earlier. I've been on that river my whole life and never remember this many people passing in one year. One or two maybe a year, but this one has been extremely tragic. Prayers for the families that have lost loved ones there this year, all likely out just to have a good time and enjoy being on the water.

A lot of people became boat owners during the pandemic and a lot of those people didn't grow up on the river or around boats at all.

I fish the marsh and luckily out there it's rare to come across another boat, but man do I see some reckless stuff out there too - especially with boats full of kids. It is markedly different than how it was in 2019.

It's a wonder to me that we don't hear more of these stories.

THis was an issue long before the pandemic. driver of boat charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.

IF it’s the same incident, it was a teenager who was bow riding and fell off the boat getting hit by the prop. Lotta fail and blame to go around here.

I read that TWO people on a pontoon boat fell overboard when the operator hit a large wake. The 17 y/o girl from Slidell was hit by the prop, not a following boat, according to the article. The 2nd person had minor injuries and the 33 y/o operator was arrested for operating under the influence.

Goodness RIP to her. So she must have fallen over the front of the boat in between the pontoons? It’s not easy to run someone over from your own boat in a pontoon. Very unfortunate

Supposedly they were on the outside of the gate in the front. Hit a wake and fell over.

Look at this shite show coming in from the lake yesterday at about the 8 second mark - LINK

Yes White Roach that’s the story that I read this morning of what happened.

Y’all think we have boating ignorance here in our waterways,,, watch some of the YouTube videos of idiots in the inlets and sandbars in Florida!!
It’s like the law enforcement agencies over there don’t even seem to care about any safety equipment. You rarely even see a kid with a life jacket in those videos.

I never have understood why operating a boat meant you had to consume alcohol.
