Dude, just think a little bit about what your hypothesis is....that the bears led to the deer leaving.

Either the bear is a threat to the deer, which means that the bear you are seeing are eating the deer that you arent....you see, the bear wouldnt be there to eat a deer that does not exist. If he had run your deer off because he was eating them, he would not be there anymore..he would be with them, the deer you arent seeing.

or

the bear is out browsing your herd and forcing them to leave. If that is the case you have a land issue, and need to manage it to have more browse and food sources to support a deer herd, so that one 250 pound bear will not put you out of commission.

Either way, you dont have a bear problem.

Or the presence of bear where they haven't been previously may deter deer from hanging around if they have somewhere else to go?

But your first hypothesis is probably right. One bear has probably eaten every deer , rabbit, squirrel and collered dog within 2 miles , because that's exactly what I've been saying all along. And he will probably die of starvation because there's nothing more to eat. Oh, and bear don't tear stuff up. Guess I've only seen that in a movie.

You bear scaring deer away freaks are total dumbasses. We had a pic on our deer cam last year Concordia Parish of a huge black bear on one side of our feeder, eating, and a 12 point with at leat a 20 inch spread on the other side of the feeder, peacefully eating. Where do some of you people come up this this shite!

If that's directed at me, for the last time, I don't think I ever said bear attack and eat mature deer. I also didnt advocate shooting a bear illegally. I'm pretty sure I stated bear will tear stuff up and they may be deterring the few deer I have around my place. Not saying the hide in the bushes and jump them when they walk by, but saying if deer can go somewhere where a bear is not and feed and not have to cross paths with a bear, the deer may do it. We've never had bear where I'm at. They've been near us but not on us. Now we do. Now I see no deer or deer pics. But I'm getting some beautiful bear photos. Had another instance of a friend last year nearby with lots of deer pics , got bear coming to camera, deer left the scene for 2 months. Again not saying they don't eventually coexist and deer disappear forever. People like to put words in my mouth for some reason.

Derek P. Sayer, 30, was arrested for shooting and killing a Louisiana black bear on Nov. 27, 2012 in Avoyelles Parish. A hunter alerted authorities on Nov. 27 about a dead black bear laying on an all-terrain vehicle trail on Avoyelles Parish School Board property located 20 miles northwest of Marksville.

Tom Selleck got the shite kicked out of him in this thread by a bunch of coonasses that have never had to deal with bears. To people referencing bear and deer peacefully coinciding in the Smokies... little bit different situation. While some deer and bear coexist in nature without problems, to think that deer are ok with bears and to dont scat arse when they are around is asinine. Ive seen
It too many times while hunting northeast la along with the other headaches of hunting around bears. And alx referencing Davis island is laughable too. Its Davis fricking island.
Fact of the matter is, its illegal. Dude should be punished for his crime, and he is a douche for shooting an animal that he doesnt plan to consume. But there should be a certain ammount taken every year in NELA, because its getting out of hand. They have no real predators, and they do not fear humans like they should.
