We hunt near Tensas and see plenty of bear and deer so not sure that bear activity will affect deer movement. I do know 2 years ago they were going to do a lottery in NELA but a lot of PETA folks showed up so it got shot down so I think the numbers are at sufficient levels.

not quite.. there was talk of this AFTER the La BB gets delisted.. the first phase will have to be lottery or call in quota.. but this was not on the table....yet.. peta isn't the group that will scream. .when the time comes either..

No need to get you panties in a wad. We haven't had a stellar year for hunting at our lease many factors come in to play maybe you need to tweak your hunting methods a bit. Its a message board man everyone is going to express their opinion

So will coyotes and hogs. As well as collared and uncollared dogs.

That's why they are all on my SOS list.

I don't have bears were I hunt but they are on our club. I would love to be able to hunt them sometime but would probably only kill one for a trophy.

Well, if you have time to get off a decent shot, he's bluffing. 90% of the time, they are just messing with you. If he decides to come kill you, the chances of you getting off a kill shot are slim to none.

The tactics to deter an aggressive or curious bear work.

I haven't heard of an attack. I've heard tale of a bear getting to a recently killed deer on tensas refuge before the hunter could get there. More of just a nuisance now with feeders, stands, farm equipment, poly pipe etc.

No I hate bullets that don't cause enough damage to kill the animal quickly and you end up following blood trails till they peter out and the thing goes off to die and rot.

have two places to deer hunt, public land and a very small spot of family land. Went hunting on public land and saw more bear than deer, got bear pictures on family land and haven't had a deer pic since.

Aside from your incredibly large sample. Historically the areas with the highest bear density also were full of deer.

Hell Teddy R. was hunting bear in the Tensas when it was also known to be full of deer, and still is. It had bear, then no bear, now has bear again...and has always had deer.

Had one try to get in a ground blind with me last year when I was bow hunting. He spooked at about 5 steps when I yelled at him. It was quite the heart pounding experience. They ruined a camera and a climber, still wouldn't want to shoot one. I see both sides. I really enjoyed seeing them, but I'm not in for letting the population grow unchecked.

Whatever dude. I've never squirrel, turkey and deer hunted Tensas refuge so I don't have a clue about anything. I've never seen a bear and deer are just overrunning the place. Carry on.

Better stop with that crazy talk . You'll get called all sorts of names for talking ill of a bear.
