Thanks roger. You described me to a T . I will let deer walk on public land instead of playing if its brown it's down. I have killed 1 buck in 4 years of hunting on my small private place. I would rather see a lot of deer than shoot a lot. I don't have a blood thirst for bear. I would just rather them not be where I'm trying to hunt. And it seems like this all started because I stated fact that a bear will tear up a feeder , and I would rather that not happen. And know I've been called a redneck idiot and invited to shoot a bald eagle. Think i will pass on both.

And deacon, you're the only idiot talking about bears running down and eating deer.

Edited to fix an apostrophe for grammar deacon

So will coyotes and hogs. As well as collared and uncollared dogs.

We hunt near Tensas and see plenty of bear and deer so not sure that bear activity will affect deer movement. I do know 2 years ago they were going to do a lottery in NELA but a lot of PETA folks showed up so it got shot down so I think the numbers are at sufficient levels.

Do you guys want to kill a bear? Even if legal, I can't see me doing it.

I would like to take one with a bow but I cant say I would be a hardcore bear hunter. Bear does eat good so possibly.

Nah, got no desire to kill a bear. Then I'd have to eat it and somehow that just doesn't appeal to me.

But I'll shoot a bobcat or a coyote in a heartbeat. But that's just because they're killing my deer. That I find ever so tasty and delicious.

I wouldn't want to kill it if it was going to be a waste.

You just don't want to even begin to work out what bullet you need to stay in the bear.

This.

I will shoot a coyote (meets uncollared dog criteria). I let bobcats walk. Just like seeing those guys slipping through the woods.

They aren't good eating. Stuff I have had was pretty nasty.

I've been in on bear hunts years ago, but don't have an interest in it anymore. I take a gun and camera, but the gun is only for protection.

May not affect them long term. An I'm not speaking for anywhere except where I hunt on my family land, not Tennessee, Mississippi or tensas parish.

I liked it my pawpaw killed one in the Yukon and had sausage and jerky made out of it.

I've had sausage that was "bearable" but I can find better stuff to eat, unless it's a survival situation.
