Planning on going to the Angola rodeo Sunday. Any tips on when I need to get there and so on? I heard the ticket booth opens at 9. What time does the actual rodeo start?
Thanks

The arts and craft stuff great. You need plenty of time to walk around and look at that stuff. I have seen people bringing empty trailers to haul back chairs and tables and such.

Stop and drink daiquiri at the gas station before you get there. Be one of the last to get there.

The last to get there is the first to leave. You only need about an hour to look at all the crafts.

Be there Sunday as well, straight from the camp. Gotta leave the truck at friends in St. Francisville, definitely don't want to be joining them in the pokey. I've been told to bring plenty of cash for all of the handmade crafts and such.

On a side note, got to travel the grounds for work, that place is wild. If there weren't a death row in the middle of it, you would think it's just an old town. Houses, crops, livestock, etc. Again, aside from the murderers and rapists, it's a cool place. (If murderers and rapists are your thing, you would love it).

The earlier you get there the better the selection of crafts. The large well built furniture , grills, etc will be bought very early

Haven't been in a few years, but always enjoyed the crafts part almost more than the actual rodeo. That traffic though...

Got a Cajun Fryer type setup a couple years ago for $100. Buddy says back in the day they use to take cigarettes, lipstick and nail polish for payments. I can only imagine what they did with all that

Last one of the year. Inmates will be trying to unload their hobby craft so don't be afraid to haggle with them. Bring cash because it works better. You can do transactions on credit card but cash is easier.

Don't show up stinking of alcohol. It can get you booted. Also don't have any guns, ammo, alcohol, drugs, or weapons of any kind in your vehicle.

Think the rodeo is already sold out but hobby craft tickets are unlimited. Dot expect to show up and buy tickets to the rodeo.

Traffic is a bitch leaving. Don't have plans for Sunday afternoon. Check mapquest. Take a scenic ride out on Ouidia Irondale Rd to Sligo and then to 61. Would add 20-30 to a normal drive but is equal to or less than if you sit in traffic.

Well, you should probably bring a shank just in case.

It's interesting to Google some of the inmates names.

Nothing like your wife buying a hand carved wooden bowl from a guy that killed his boyfriend's parents.
