I asked earlier if there is a good deal thread and it died.

I did find a good deal on a WEN 2250 inverter.

$385

not sure its a barn burner. but usually i see them for 450 to 520.

ive been intrigued, lately, with purchasing two with a coupler device.Champion’s ParaLINK parallel kit (not linked above, but just an example) increases your power by linking two 2000-watt inverter generators. The kit’s space-saving design for two stacked inverters has built-in cable storage and a 120V 30A locking outlet and a standard 30A RV outlet with enough power to start and run a 15,000 BTU RV air conditioner

I have the Harbor Freight Predator that looks nearly identical. Use and abuse TF out of it. I'm sure this one is no different.... highly recommend.

Capabilities insight: it will run my deep freezer and refridgerator simultaneously along w/ phone chargers, couple of lights, a fan etc. Will run a 10k BTU window unit and fridge at same time as well.

Me and my Dad both have one along with the parallel kit. I will say that the first one my Dad had blew the engine at maybe 10hrs of use. Was replaced without any issue and no problems since then. I'd also recommend getting the magnetic dip stick. That's a good price for the unit. Get'em now before hurricane season gets here.

You’re the man I want to talk to.

What can you tell a simpleton mike me about these generators and what is called the startup wattage of these items.

Is the status of the compressor the issue for these smaller generators because they don’t have enough power to start the compressor.
Right?

Obviously no since you know what’s going on. Can you tell me about that?

Also, would I not want to get a 5000 amp parallel kit to handle the doubling of a 2250 kit?

Thanks for the heads up. Just pulled the trigger. Free shipping.

Had been looking for an inverter generator. Enough to power refrigerator, fans, electronics, etc. Research tells me to break it in for 5 hours and change the oil. Magnetic dip stick seems a good idea. Lot of people recommend ethanol free fuel.

Wanted an inverter because low on noise and seems more fuel efficient. Also pretty portable.

What all could you simultaneously run with this one?

Not SwampCollie but here's my .02

Right?

The startup amperage and wattage of a compressor is typically around 3x the normal operating amperage/wattage of the compressor. The main issue is with only 1 generator, you are confined to the 2 plugs on the front which are each rated at 15A/120V. If you exceed the amp draw, the fault light will come on and trip the breaker. Breaker is reset by the reset button. I've found running the unit with eco mode off when operating higher amp draw equipment doesn't put the unit in near as much of bind (you just use a lot more gas than may be needed) when equipment starts. ~15k BTU window unit would probably be the limit of just the 15A plug.

Definitely. If you get 2 generators, the parallel kit has a 50A (not 5000 lol) and 30A plugs at 120V. Should be able to run most RV equipment. Also, they sell soft starters for RV's that will reduce the startup amperage of ac compressors by 60-70%. If running heavy loads like RV AC's, expect to fill the gas tank every few hours or so as they only have a 1 gallon tank. Fuel mileage may vary

See post above by SwampCollie. This has been typical for me on this particular generator as well.

This is the magnetic dipstick I'd recommend. The threaded funnel is worth it alone when it comes to oil changes

Hell of a price for the 8750 inverter too.

I haven't seen an inverter that high in wattage even close to that price point. Makes me consider ordering one and selling my regular 5500.

Thanks baw. I bought a Westinghouse last year, the first one didn’t start. Sent it back, the next one was loud as hell and leaked gas. Refunded me and let me keep it anyway and I sent it to the shop under warranty. Service man said he never saw a gas leak and they wouldn’t repair just for the noise alone.

Haven’t tried to start it up since then.

Change the oil every hour for the first three hours on all these little inverters. You will be shocked at how bad it looks after one hour of run time.

The magnetic dipstick works great as well.

It removes metal from the break in period then after the break in gives you a visual status of wear. If you changed oil down the road and it was suddenly loaded with more metal, you would know it's either time to have it looked at or sell.
