Are old 10/22s much different from the current model? I have one from maybe the mid 90s. It's been a great rifle.

I bought a new one about 4 years ago, it wasn't very accurate at all. I traded it off real quick.

Not trying to be a dick but did you read the website?

LINK

It states that Ruger bought the Marlin name but won't be bringing them back on the market until the second half of 2021.

No, I didn't read it, I just looked at what they had for sale. That being said, there are a lot of them out there and you could probably find a nice used one. I know around here, every pawn shop has a couple of them all the time.

mine is a 1974 vintage and it's been a great shooter

just started to see some light primer strike issues though. I'm going to see if a cleaning will cure. If not I might do the trim the firing pin trick.

Picking out of the two, which would you get?

Marlin Model 60 or Ruger 10/22

Both with synthetic stocks and scope ready.

Buy two of each, then decide which to sell. Probably profit.

I am thinking of buying one of each then picking the one I like best. But I also want to buy a deer hunting rifle.

I don't see the problem?

I actually have one of each of those.

My brother gave me the Marlin 30yrs or so ago for Christmas.

I've completely changed everything on my 10-22 and I love it.

Actually haven't shot either in longer than I care to think about.
Need to get them out and go to the range.

I know, but whatcha going to do. I purchased an AR-15 and 12 GA semi-auto in 2020. The .22 will be for fun and to teach the kids to shoot. The rifle will just me getting prepared for next hunting season. I haven't deer hunter since I was a kid. Hell, I just completed my hunter safety course online this past summer. I think I'll buy the Marlin now and the Ruger at a later date.

Since I have no experience with the Marlin I have no basis to compare them.

The Marlin Model 60 that I have is older, but it is really accurate. I know they still use the micro-groove barrel design, so maybe they are still that good. I don't even have a scope on mine, but I can hit a bottle cap at 40 yards every time, just sittin in a chair with my front elbow propped on my knee, and if you just want to shoot fast, it will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Just keep it oiled and it will probably last forever.

I have both and I prefer the Marlin. I like the tube magazine. Don't have to worry about losing it.

Accuracy is better too.

After all the crap, I can't order the Marlin. Bass Pro shows that you can order it, but then shows zero available when I try to add it to the cart. Oh well, guess I'll just get the Ruger.

Ruger 10/22. The aftermarket is loaded with upgrades for them.
