Yep, I think the largest documented was just a tad over 6 ft.

it was 1 big fricking snake. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. fat fella too. Looked like a tree trunk laying across the road.

This was 2014, and I could still take you to the exact spot I saw him. I remember it clearly.

I’ve followed your threads for a while but I don’t recall, ever caught a pygmy rattler? I can’t seem to find one

I got 11 dusky pygmies in Florida last year. They’re pretty common in Apalachicola National Forest - you can find them on roadside logs during the day or road cruise them at night - especially right as it’s getting dark. Western pygmies are hard to come by in La. - I’ve only seen 1 back when I was a kid.

Spent a lot of time on a lease just west of Del Rio before Comstock. LOTS of rattlers down there.

I had a coydog puppy as a kid. Found by the roadkill mom who was a full coyote. That dog was awesome to a little boy. Totally protective. Fun as hell. I'd get on a swing on my belly and act like I was flying and he'd come get on the one beside me and do the same thing. Was nuts.

He didn't like my uncle who was a yankee. If that dude showed up that dog would go stalk him and attack. Was wild. He was the only person that dog ever even growled at. Got to where he would pull up and honk and wait till we found the dog and put him up.

Been a dream of mine since knee high.

I walk to their dens a few times a year.

A coy dog is what you really want.

Just a tidbit of trivia if you don’t already know, but when you see a coy dog, the mother is almost always coyote and father a dog. Male coyotes can only breed at a certain time of the year like the females. So basically a male coyote and female dog would have to meet up when they’re both in heat. But a male dog can come across a female coyote in heat anytime and breed her.

W regard to world record. Doubt it.
I’ve seen two around meridian ms that had their head on one side of a logging road and tail was in the ditch on the other side. Thick as my forearm and head bigger than my fist.
Those girls get big on a diet of squirrels, rabbits and rats.

We had a rott die from coyote wounds about 25 years ago. We still see yotes with rottweiler markings in the area

I think diet plays a big role in size in different locales. Around the south central Texas oilfield roads where I got my 2 monster diamondbacks and found the big dead one this trip, there are a LOT of small rabbits running around. Perfect eating size for a big diamondback. But in West Texas, it’s mostly mice and small kangaroo rats running around, and the biggest diamondbacks I’ve seen are about 2 ft. smaller. Those big south central snakes are feasting.
