Curious if you think he will be much more than a 6pt next year

He will probably end up looking like this.

This is a 3.5 yr old that was a 6 the yr before. He is wide but it's tough to tell in this pic.

Shoot him assuming you are asking if he is a cull.

Doesn't look older than 3 to me. No sway in back, brisket not really defined.

He's a good one though. If he's good enough for you, take him.

Looks 2.5 to me. But I have a hard time believing he'll grow g3s. Obviously a good deer though. At least for our place

Quite the predicament

I would say 2.5-3 also and in your case I would let him walk and hope he makes it.

No clue how he will grow. A lot of factors...diet, genetics etc.

Could be the king ding-a-ling next year around those parts.

Yeah I think we've decided to let him pass for sure. I just don't think he's very good on the genetic scale

I’d guess him to be a 3 yr old and a def shooter. With that kinda main beam and tine length I’d guess he had the nutrition just doesn’t have the points genetics. Don’t want him continuing to pass those big 6 genes.

We had an issue with that for years when everyone was shooting 8pt or better. We ended up with a bunch of big mature 6 & 7 points.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I'm sure we'll never see him again this year...so guess we'll see next year.

If you think he’s generically inferior compared to most deer on your place then you need to cull him. He still won’t have G2s next year but will be wider.

ETA: 2.5 yr old deer

3 1/2 without a doubt. No fricking way he grows G2's like that at 2.5.

Doubt he adds additional points next year, just adds height ,mass and width. Take him next year for sure. What people tend to forget, as far as his offspring, is the does genetic history factors in as well.

Yeah definitely. He's still got a lot going for him. For one, I haven't seen him in person yet.

My nephew kept telling me about a nice 6 he let walk a couple times...then sent this pic tonight. Not sure I could let him walk twice
