I've never owned anything but street mutts and other rescues so maybe I'm way off base here, but aren't boxers known for being very susceptible to many kinds of cancer? would the testicles not dropping increase that risk even more?

Yes boxers are prone to getting cancer, and according to the vet that would be a major concern, but we are going to address the issue as soon as he’s old enough.
I’m not going to let the fact that they are prone to cancer stop me from owning one. Well worth it in my opinion. Boxers are fantastic and exactly what I’m looking for in a dog.

If you’re not interested in breeding I would differ her half of what a properly registered dog is worth.
As far as health problems, I would expect you to have less problems with inferior breeding than if the lines were pure. Your dog might not “look” exactly the way he is supposed to but no reason he shouldn’t be a great dog.

She said the man who owned the stud was an a-hole and demanded more money from her to get the proper paperwork
Kind of a weird situation, but I talked to the vet up there by them - the one who examined the dog - and he said that while there’s no way to know for sure at 6 wks old, everything points to the dog being a purebred boxer

I’m far from an expert but he looks purebred to me

The vet who examined him agreed but said that you never know. But he’s 98% sure

I wonder if one of the DNA kits would give you any info
My mom has done 2 of them for rescue mutts
I’d be curious to do a purebred & see how it came back

I got my dog from the pound. They told me he was a full blooded catahoula, but didn't have the paperwork. From his looks, he could have been a catahoula, or a mix of something like a rottweiler or lab with something else. I did the doggy DNA kit, and sure enough, he came back as 100% catahoula. There's no way they could just make that up, because they didn't have pictures or anything else of him besides DNA.

Have any of y’all had issues like this with a puppy before? Is it common?
We have 2 boxers and our sealed brindle male was neutered because his balls didn't drop. There is a higher risk of cancer if they aren't removed from what we were told. Boxers are amazing family dogs and if you are comfortable with the breeder than I would go ahead with the purchase.
