The finest whitetail deer hunting in the South? I'll take Profit Island please.

Agree, I am 53 and can only remember seeing a handful of deer from age 6 to 15. First deer i actually shot at was around 13 on my grand paws property east of Campti which i missed multiple times. 5 miles from that spot they are now killing 140-150 class bucks up to 250#. Saw two dead on 49 saturday/sunday coming back from Natchitoches. You don't have to be a millionaire to kill respectable deer anymore.

Those places are a lifestyle. There's better options elsewhere for less money if trophy deer is your target. For someone like me though, it would be perfect because of the bonuses of great duck hunting at times, and great fishing most of the time. They were catching limits of bass the last time I went.

They killed a 186 typical deer there 2 years ago. I've seen >100 deer on multiple hunts there. Not many better options in the state.

Yes both are very well managed and that deer was a beast. It still isnt worth 3.2 mil.

Whose limits? Isn't that all private?

I wish, he treats his friends right.

I've met him a couple of times there and at other functions.

Is Willow set up the same way with shares or is it owned by one family?

Rosedale has not changed much and Parker still runs it. They actually had memberships open the past two years. Heard one of the members say it is the first time they had open memberships in over 20 years. With the way the river rises and falls so frequently people are getting tired of fighting it

Thanks. The host I used to go with got out about 20 years ago, he and I lost touch, so I didn't know if it had been sold or what.
Had many a good time out there for sure.
So much history out there too. The elder Parker's, who passed away on the island while trying to jump start a dozer from it's track, name came up when the Henry Dee and Charles Moore cold case re-opened.

I read where in the 1920s there were only 1,200 deer in Mississippi

Two older gentleman from West Feliciana Parish both told me that their first deer sighting was along the river mid to late 1960s. One said he had heard people talk about seeing them and they were moving cattle on fancy point and saw his first track. The other said he saw something cross an old railroad and walked down there and confirmed it was a deer by the tracks.

It’s a share camp, and they call it Henderson Island now.

Honestly that's cheap, Riverfront bottoms around Bossier command more than that

by far, the craziest bunch of cattle I have ever seen or been around in my life. They were like wild beast in Africa it seemed to me. None of the others in the parish were crazy, but that bunch that ended up at MV had a genetic defect of craziness, u couldn't deal with the wild arse bastards
