Shot my 444 today at 25 yards. 2 inches low. 265 grain. Should be dead on at 100 right? Thanks

Shoot it at 100 to know for sure.
No way to know without shooting.

that's not really a good way to sight in your rifle.

three are a few things that could change that equation like what load and scope mounts.

It's something that can get you close but nothing can substitute actually shooting it at 100

I wouldnt recommend trusting a gun only sighted in a 25. Take it out to 100 yards and see.

What is primitive about a 50 year old centerfire cartridge?

What's primitive about today's compound bows and crossbows?

Nothing. Which is why their season is called archery season.

Which can also be used during primitive weapon season.

444 is way more "primitive" than 35 Whelen, but hey I'm not complaining! I'll have that 35 Whelen in the stand with me till I get a deer with it this year. TC Encore chambered in 35 Whelen is on bad SOB IMHO

Primitive is just the word they kept when they couldn't figure out what to rename it.

Single shot exposed hammer and stick flinging season is a mouthful.

Depends what your muzzle trajectory is - that bullet rises almost 5" between the muzzle and 100yds - you will still be low at 100yds but in the kill zone - assuming your muzzle is -1.70" you would want to be about 1.2" low at 25 to be dead on at 100.

Shot one on opening day that was dead on at 25 yds . Shot ended up 2 inches low at 90 yards . I would shoot in the rib cage as the 444 creates a huge exit wound . Blew out the back shoulder . Hold the damn thing tight as I gashed the bridge of my nose . It was a borrowed gun .
