UPDATE #3 - The 2nd bird is at LSU Wildlife Hospital. I really don't like his chances. It was a runt to begin with. Both birds are hopefully in best care possible. BTW Wings of Hope was full and couldnt take them.

Good on you, but I'd have killed it

Just fyi, it's common for raptor hatchlings to be very different in size. The eggs are laid days apart, and hatch accordingly. And the babies grow very quickly, so there's a big size difference. This improves the chances of at least one of them making it through the rough patches.

Thanks Teague

I kind of thought that birds this size lay multiple eggs but only the strongest survive. That the strongest chick kicks out siblings to die and all food and attention goes to strongest that will survive. Too much Attenborough.

Hopefully they both make it. Keep us updated if they let you know how everything goes

Did you look for the nest? Some boss baby raptor up there that kicked his 2 little siblings out?

Call Animal Control and let them know what you have. Recently someone ran over a group of resident Canada Geese outside office including adults and young. Had one with a broken leg that would not let anyone get too close so we called Animal Control and they picked up and transported to LSU.

Frick all Canadian Geese. I don’t think they even go back north anymore. They want to be called Canadian-American Geese now.

Not all Canada geese are Canadian.
