(2nd) Juvenile raptor fell in my yard - UPDATE #3 both with LSUWLH

This crazy hail / wind storm knocked q juvenile raptor of some kind in my yard. He was covered in ants so I got him in my driveway and hosed the ants off. He was already soaking wet. Ive got him in a box now with a towel and its bleeding slightly from its mouth, probably from the fall. I see falcons/hawks all the time but didnt think I had a nest. The parents arent around either. I called around and LSU Animal Hospital will take it but its all the way across town.
Does anyone know someone that will pickup raptor rescues in eastern EBR or Livingston Parish? Im trying to make arrangements now to get to LSU Animal Hospital.

Looks pretty badass.
Keep it, train it to keep people and animals off your lawn.

Cool looking chick.
Get him to LSU.
Maybe when he grows up we can sell him to Auburn for a profit.

I wonder if you left it in a box in your yard (where the ants can’t get it) if the parents would come and get it. They definitely have the strength to carry it back to their nest.

Definitely get it to LSU somehow.
Where I live we call that a chicken hawk

Probably a red shouldered hawk chick. About 5 weeks old, not quite ready to fend for himself. He needs to be put in the care of a licensed rehabber immediately.
I know you mean well, but hosing off a baby bird and putting him in a box is setting him up for hypothermia, pneumonia, and other bad things.
Normally it's best to leave feathered baby birds where you found them. In this case, you really should have taken him to LSU right away since you state he was possibly injured. Not to mention, being in possession of him is illegal...

Open a can of sardines and see if it will eat one (or two).

Looks to be a red-shouldered, or maybe a broad-winged hawk.

Beautiful bird- should go to LSU’s vet school for some care first but will likely eventually be transferred to Wings of Hope.
Source- worked at the vet school during college. We incinerated injured robins, etc but birds of prey were brought back to health and then rehabbed at wings of hope.

Call Animal Control and let them know what you have. Recently someone ran over a group of resident Canada Geese outside office including adults and young. Had one with a broken leg that would not let anyone get too close so we called Animal Control and they picked up and transported to LSU.

Right?
OP: "Hey I care!" Just not enough to fire up the F-250 for that grueling 8 mile trip.
