Davis had what? 4 clubs? The one I get to hunt doesn't have a monetary penalty until a two year age mistake. The first mistake that is just one year costs two bucks.

That thing has been eating some good coonass cooking.....I'd weigh 800 pounds if I lived in Louisiana....even the deer over eat when the eating is that good!

I know several people that have killed 300 lb. bucks.
I did see a 10 pt.mounted that guy killed in Avoyelles parish that I believe was 300,it was huge.Guy claimed he weighed it,I have no doubt it would make Boone&Crockett but he wasn’t interested in it.

That part seems kinda pointless, huh?

500$ is a huge deterrent for the poor cousins and in-laws that are there as a guest, that’s all that’s about.

I hunted on the Little Tensas River for several years. Killed a handful of bucks over 250, and many more that were between 215-230. A 1-1/2 year old buck there would be around 180 lbs. Does were regularly over 150 lbs, with 1 killed that was pushing 200 lbs (didn't get to put a scale to this one). Biggest one killed on this lease was 307 lbs back in 2000.

Now I hunt avoyelles parish, deer are a good bit smaller. But still bigger than most of the state. Biggest ive killed in AP was 193 lbs, Ive seen one on the lease hit 230.

I also hunt Arkansas now, good luck getting one to hit 200 right now where im at Does seem to be 90-110 lbs (havent put a scale to one yet). Bucks seem to be 120-180 lbs. Have a picture of one who might push closer to 200 but i doubt it.

Not sure if its genetics, different subspecies, feeding program, etc. Probably a combination of everything.

I killed a 286 lb on the river in Mississippi. Next plaque up fo mount him on was an elk plaque, and they used a Canadian form. He was 152” and his horns looked tiny compared to his body. That was early December before the rut. He was weighed on a good scale.

So what else do you get for a million dollars? I assume that's a one time fee, but still...

Membership alone cost a million , when available at Davis island or winterquarters . Also have to pay yearly dues . I'm out , I do go as a guest . Strict rules on bucks . Members get 5 bucks and 9 does . Shoot an undersized buck and it counts as 2 and cost you $ 500

Yep, same here. Been fortunate to hunt Diamond Island and Davis Island as a guest. Way too steep for me.

The people who got in early didn't pay 1 million, more like 20-30K (in the 70'/80's) but they do pay annual dues.

What does it get you ?

Most of the people who hunt these areas are long on money and short on time, they are able to go enjoy hunting and a chance at a trophy deer (free range) in Louisiana which is rare. They don't want to spend time bush
hogging, tilling, feeding , fixing stands etc etc etc

I saw a picture of a 15ft stand with a 13ft water line on it so you can imagine the clean up and preparation it takes yearly to get these places back in hunting order.

The deer leave these islands every year during flooding and come back, plus duck the hunting is top notch.

I've been to Davis Island three times, it's a different world inside the levee.

The value of a share has devalued as of late because of the river being so high for so long. I don't imagine it's much, but enough to make a difference in the asking price.

Actually you’d be surprised the amount of interest the club is getting lately. People know the deer that will keep going back there, even after the flooding. It will take 1 decent season for that place to explode again and prices will be even higher than they were. The deer they have on camera this past year are pretty incredible.
