Yes or no? Trying to get in a lease. Found a used one, not abused for a great price. I'm under 180lbs and don't plan riding with anyone but myself.
It's a honda recon 250es.
Should I wait and look for a bigger bike? Trying to stay under 2grand, will probably upgrade in few years.

Depends on terrain and what you will be putting it through. We have a bayou 250 and I use it for duck hunting in Sherburne. Will get you to and from your spots with a decent amount of gear. Not going to handle deep mud, but will handle easier crossings. It will haul a deer out if that is what you are asking.

I had a recon for 10 years. I loved that little bike. in fact.......if Honda recons would be 4x4, they would be the shite.
note- bought a rancher in feb

I love a smaller atv for riding around in the woods. If your not trying to haul a bunch of crap the light weight of the smaller ones is great. Especially if your trying to manuever in tight places.

My cousin has an old Honda Recon that won't quit. Our club is mostly flat woodlands without swamp/soughs, so it is really all that is needed for one guy to haul one deer or a few sacks of corn.
If you want to double up, haul multiple deer, use it for food plotting, need 4wd or have serious hills, a bigger bike would be better.

I've had a 250 Yahama for years. Runs like a champ still. Wanna buy it? $1000

My son has a Recon manual shift. It's been a great bike and will handle some mud but not a slough. It will haul a deer with no problem also. You can actually put it in the bed of the truck and close the tailgate too.

How much they want for it. I'll buy it.

Dont know about the ES, but I had a recon for a long time and loved it

Buddy of mine had a Recon for years. He put Vampires on the back and it would haul he and I plus a 100# lab and gear across a rice field.
I am not sure I would get an ES though.

I love smaller bikes. Easy to get around on, unless your trying to take it through mudpits.

Does anyone remember when a 250cc 4 wheeler was considered a large model?
Posted on 6/17/15 at 12:08 pm to Shexter
Yep..... I had went from a 1984 Honda125m three wheeler to a Honda 300 fourtrax and it seemed huge.

I have a 1990 Honda Fourtrax 4x4 and it still does everything I need it to do and has survived some things I shouldn't have done

I remember the first 400 i saw thinking there is no reason I would ever get one that big.
Wat vs need.
Most 400+ wont fit in the back of a quad cab truck so there is that.

Thanks for the help, looks like someone sniped me though.
The lease where it would be used is next the Homochitto Forrest. There isnt any mud, some hills nothing to extreme though. I think a 250 will fit what I need out there.
