I have a 2016 ecoboost F150. Recently noticed a little bit of what feels like shuddering/bouncing while driving. Nothing major, just feels like running over a rumble strip. Originally wrote it off as a bumpy road, but after doing a little more digging, think it may be the torque converter. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I had the same issue with my 2017. Dealership lied and told me some BS, buddy's FIL owns a transmission shop in Metairie. Dropped to him, he flushed fluid and added lubricant. No more issues over the last year. He told me it could never happen again, or I'd need a torque converter. The torque converters get pitted and the lubricant helps with the shuddering.

You can put in a transmission treatment. Shudder fix. Should knock it out.

If not, you’re out $20

Mine did that recently. 2016 with the 2.7. Ended up being the valve body in the transmission. They're known for valve body issues.

You getting an engine light as well? Mine would also random shift. Wouldn't start one day because it thought it was in drive.

Can you elaborate on the BS?

I have similar symptom in my 6 spd '16. When I slow roll to a stop, it shudders slightly and when I come to complete stop, it idles slightly higher than usual. I was thinking its close to spark plug change time but feels light torque converter.

Nope. No engine light. Actually got one of those plug in tools today to see if it was throwing any codes. Didn't get any. I have an extended warranty, so that's a good thing. Just curious if anyone else had any experience or ideas on it.

Ever notice you don’t see threads with “ (year model) Silverado or Sierra issues”

My brother in law just went through this with a 2015 ecoboost. About 175K miles.

As I said above he used this, it went away.

Guy at work went through like 6 engines in his silverado. Pretty sure all brands have some form of problem or another.

I have a 2021 2.7 and I felt a very small shutter when cruising at very low rpm's. My best guess is that its the knock sensor. When switching from low octane to premium, the knock sensor helps the truck detect octane level and adjust the timing so there is no pre-ignition. I first felt the shutter after I ran premium for a tank, then switched back to regular. I'm guessing the knock sensor isnt working correctly. I now run mid or premium only and this has eliminated my issue.

Fun Fact, Per the manual, running Premium will increase these engines HP. Its a noticeable difference and always us Premium when towing.

They told me they needed to flash something to fix it. When I went back the same day saying it was not fixed, they told me the computer needed to relearn how I drive. Total BS.

Ive read a few posts on that. Something about reflashing the learning transmission shift points. Kind of hit or miss on whether or not it actually works.

Had the same exact issue and a transmission fluid flush always fixed it.

Was it a one time issue or has it happened a few times?

I want to say it happened close to 100k miles and maybe again around 165k miles?
Sold it right after that but the fluid change fixed it again.

Good article on torque converter shudder and a simple DYI test to help diagnosis it, written by the owner of the shop I use in BR. What is Torque Converter Shudder?

I've got the 2015 F150 5.0 V8 and have had recent "slipping" of the transmission is what I can best describe it. Specifically when shifting from 2-3 or 3-4 it sounds/feels like gears rubbing or slipping. Hard to explain. Besides the occasional "slipping" feel it drives fine and shifts normal 90% of the time.

Would this stuff do the trick as well or do I need to get a tranny shop to do a fluid flush and tranny check?

TIA

I’m not sure. The good thing is if you try the product and it doesn’t work you’re only out $20
