Build your own dedicated .22 AR. No polymer bullshite.

I next gun I'm getting is the 10-22 takedown. Smooth shooting gun
Why not look at the Browning Auto .22? Much better gun and it comes in two pieces as well.

Is the M&P $250 better than the Mossberg?
Absolutely.
Any gun manufacturer could slip up and ship a defective gun. But Mossberg has a much higher incidence of this than S&W.
You can't manufacture a high quality AR-style .22 rifle, and maintain good quality control, and sell it for $200-250.

I have one and never had any issues. Got mine for 200 as well. Midway had the 25 round magazines on sale the other day not sure if they still do. I would buy it for $200 if you don't like it you can definitely get your money back on it and get the more expensive M&P.

Mossberg ar22 just plans sucks. Spend the money and get a S&W M&P 15-22 with Slide Fire Stock Shooting

I see people bring them to the H.I. range all the time...most have problems Jamming from what I've witnessed... and 1 wouldn't even fire right out of the box they opened at the range...spend your $$ elsewhere...

10-22 makes all other 22s obsolete. I don't know why anyone would anything else?

I thought I had posted this to you on this thread but somehow got on the handgun while hunting thread ?????? Anyway short story. I love the mossberg but have 2 issues: stock mag gets hard to load. I bought 2 off the shelf at Simmons and they work better but I haven't run themas much As original yet.
Other issue: the charging handle broke off after firing a full mag as fast as I could pull the trigger. Just broke off at the bolt. Brought it back to academy a d they sent it back to mossberg.
It has never jammed but I have only run about 500 rds. I like the rifle. For the money and what I do with it its a bargain compared to the sw

It can't possibly jam and misfeed anymore than my 15-22. Might as well buy the cheaper turd.

Anyone own one of these? Heard they jam a lot and have lots of problems.
I bought one for my son for Christmas in 2012. First day we went to shoot it would jam..needless to say he was pretty upset.
I called Mossberg and they had me ship it to Texas somewhere. Did not say what the issue was, but they fixed it.
He has been shooting for a year now and has not had one issue/jam and we have used several different .22lr bullets.

you only ever hear comments like this from fanboys who usually have only ever owned a 10-22, or only owned an iphone, or only owned one brand of truck
although i agree that mossberg makes crap, that 10-22s are good reliable guns, there are several other great .22's out there

SS,
The questions comes down to: 1. How much money are you willing to spend? 2. Are you willing to take a chance on the Mossberg in order to save some money?
If you don't mind spending the extra money, go w/ the 15-22. If you would like to save a little money by purchasing a lesser gun and you're ok knowing it may have problems, get the Mossberg. I read all the time about how this gun or that gun is a "POS." I've bought a lot of guns through the years, very few of which have been high end firearms. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I can't recall a single one of them being a "POS." Some have had dull metal finishes or slightly rough actions (Savage bolts), some have had sharper edges and unrefined plastic (Kel-Tecs), some have not been very accurate (Ruger P89), but all of my guns have fulfilled their intended purpose. I think the main thing that separates the nice guns from entry level guns is quality control. Even amongst entry level guns, I think the vast majority fulfill their designed purpose, but have a higher rate of slipping through the QC cracks and having problems. Those are the ones we all hear about.
If you want the Mossberg, realizing what it is, buy it and shoot the heck out of it. If you have problems, Mossberg will make it right. Take the money you save on the Mossberg and put it on ammo. If you don't want that risk or want to spend more on a more refined gun, buy the 15-22. It's not rocket science.....all we're doing is trying to enjoy recreational shooting of a 22LR.

Best post on this thread. I am happy with AR22 even though I had a couple of problems. Mossberg seems easy to deal with.
