I just cant get past the SA only.

I also dont like the unecessarily tight tolerances for a defense handgun. Reliability is a whole lot more important than smoothness IMO.

The only thing it has going for it is stopping power IMO

differnet strokes for different folks

but i don't think they make a perfect carry gun for everyone...if that was the case we would all own it.

Hell I carry 2-3 different guns depending on time of year...time of day...or just what I am in the mood for that day...

there are + and - with every gun on the market today...and dare I say it...even with the Judge...

I got a judge with a 6" barrel. Took out 4 1911 carriers in one lick at 80 yards while they were fumbling around trying to cock it and flip all the safties.

That's what they get for not carrying in condition 1.

agreed..glock owners walk around with a loaded weapon and no safety but people get all nervous if they see a exposed 1911 hammer in the cocked position, never really understood this logic.

I thought glocks were striker fired?

Either way, im not saying the 1911 is a bad conceled carry weapon, it just would not be my first or 2nd or 3rd choice.

Condition 1 still offers 2 more safties than a Glock. Grip safety and thumb safety. Both can and are deactivated with the draw of the gun. However, IMO, they make 1911s much safer and practical than Glocks.

I own both. Glock stays in the truck and 1911 on my side or on the nightstand. I am about to get the M&P Shield though. Built on the M&P design but less than 1" thick

He lost all credibility with that shirt.

If you know Yeager, or spend any time at his website (www.getoffthex.com) you know that the shirt is a "tongue in cheek" joke/response to some folks who posted that they hated the logo on the shirts that Yeager and his instructors wear.

Yes, he's opinionated. But he knows his stuff, and is one of the best trainers you could pick for a Level 1 defensive handgun class.

Just as many 1911s that run properly as Glocks that don't? Is that correct?

I would argue that there isn't a smoother shooting gun then a 1911, but the problem is if run them hard they tend to stop working. Whereas a Glock type weapon can gun right out of the box with heavy usage.

Why are they so loved in competition? Is it just history?

They are extremely accurate. They also spend a lot of time and money getting them to run right

Also because a gunsmith can make the trigger pull very light, short, clean and predictable. This can be challenging with other designs.
Trigger control is paramount in comp shooting.

I guess since he is not a fan of all the parts it takes to put a 1911 together with unskilled labor, he must also hate AR's...

I just watched his AR/AK video. Surprisingly, He does not hate on either. He states that he would recommend an AK-74 to a first time purchaser of a semi-auto assault styled rifle.

He said an AR is a Scalpel
and that an AK is a Hatchet
He didn't go into terminal ballistics or ergonomics. Basically said they are similar and both are air cooled and magazine fed.

Then why is he wearing a Sons of Anarchy shirt in the Bugout Bag video?

because he has taught 15,000 students and over 15 million rounds of ammo has been fired in his presence....he said it enough in his video you should have picked up on it...

he is a bad arse...thats why he wears it...

I don't really have enough knowledge on the 1911 to comment on the video in the OP, however... I have in the last few minutes watched several of his videos, and while he might be a little questionable on a few details... he seems to be very grounded, and sensible in his recommendations for weapons and home defense.

Other than his affinity for Glock, which is understandable, he is not one of these "everything I have is the best" and "my way is the single best way" people that you run into so often (including here on this board.)

I realize he comes from a certain point of view, but his "every gun should be a Glock" line is irresponsible.
