Why are they so loved in competition?

They are extremely accurate. They also spend a lot of time and money getting them to run right

Also because a gunsmith can make the trigger pull very light, short, clean and predictable. This can be challenging with other designs.
Trigger control is paramount in comp shooting.

Hubby said Buttermilk Racer too--he was all excited when he saw your pic because he's only seen one in Louisiana and that was up near Red Dirt/Kisatchie area. Are you in north LA?

Yep, South Shreveport area.

Yep, took the pic and let him go. Not many snakes I run across get that kind of treatment.

Bayoushooter is a great resource. Check out this thread before you buy a barrel:

29er Specialized Stumpjumper.
Talk to Josh at the Bike shop in Northgate. He knows his stuff. (raced 3 years pro mtn)
Read the review on amazon. Most agree (anecdotally) that it isnt the 1000 lumens advertised. Check out Fenix Lights.
My Fenix TK-41 puts out 800 Lumens but also can be turned down to 10 which is super nice. It uses AA batteries and the runtime is excellent. Something like 10days on the 10 lumen mode.

Walk in public land near BR

Posted by LsuCyclist13 on 9/17/11 at 3:04 pm
This is my 3rd year in BR (junior year). I'm looking to do a little duck scouting and need some direction.
So the past 2 years I havent worried about hunting here. I'm from shreveport and we get 5 weeks off so I just hunt the second split around shreveport while I'm home for christmas. Problem is, my boat and 4wheeler are in shreveport and I dont have anyway to store them here so I'm looking for something I can just hike into.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for the gps coordinates to your honey hole. I hate cyber scouters as much as anyone. What I'm looking for is like which wma around here should I go scout? Or is there some other public land that is worth checking out on foot? I'm not afraid of a long hike in waders to get somewhere. I'd prefer to drive less than an hour from BR. I hate to sound lazy but really I put 95% of my scouting energy into places around shreveport that I scout year round. I'm not planning on hunting here much, maybe just get out a couple times so I don't need to invest a lot of time here.
Help a brother out here?
