I thought exactly the same thing…makes you realize just how short life is.

this Olympics was great bc we saw some of these guys grab gold for the first time

Seeing Djokovic and Curry show up and show out on the biggest stage was magnificent

and seeing Syd practically put on a preview for 2028, boy...that's one person that is destined to dominate LA.

Me too. It’s the best sporting event in the world. I definitely considering attending some things in LA.

Yep. I absolutely love the Olympics. Summer and Winter.

This was the first that my oldest (11) really got invested. It made it so much more fun to watch her get really into everything. She was so hyped for the women’s 4x100.

She has shown no interest in sports, but is now trying out for volleyball at her school.

All because of the Olympics.

The opening was a clusterfrick, period! Did not watch any after that.

I’m definitely gonna miss the Olympics. It really helps that gap in August before football.

The athletes have nothing to do with the Opening other than being there.

You are so right, and I hate the way I feel....but please, the mockery of Christianity, especially at the Olympics, is totally uncalled for.
I will forever despise France!

I love it too and really enjoyed this one.

Athletes evidently miss it too.
There’s an interesting sub plot about post Olympic athlete depression.

Michael Phelps has told his story about winning more than anyone and the post Olympic let down. He describes a period of weeks that follows the Olympics where he felt horrible depression for weeks including inability to sleep or carry out basic functions. He was even losing his desire to live at times. It’s evidently a thing as other athletes have described the same feeling.
Even Tom Brady has described the feeling.

They prepare for years and attain greatness and in many cases, they get gold but they rarely prepare for post Olympic life. Their sense of purpose becomes confused.

Many fall into destructive behavior. Alcohol is common. Drug usage, while less common, is also a problem for many.

Just wish NBC still ran the credits at the end with a montage of the best moments.
They ran it on Late Night last night. I believe it also suited on USA today. They had a short one at the end of Gold Zone yesterday.

This is what I was talking about in my topic the other day. It's always depressing for awhile. Closing being in the afternoon is much better than than when it's in SE Asia and it happens in the very early AM. It's so easy to get into an Olympic TV routine but it just seems strange going back. Thankfully we do have football coming up.

As you mention this I read something the other day about Ryan Lochte going through depression but has since married and has children and was able to pull through.

I baffles me why they buried the montage in Late Night. Maybe they thought viewers would leave with a long credit roll because half the people in this country have the attention span of a squirrel.

I posted the BBC montage on another thread and it got me emotional.

The Winter Olympics is a fine apertivo but it’s not the same.

Olympic hockey is the best Olympic sport and it’s not particularly close. Maybe baseball in 28 will be able to best it.

Weird sports and us actually caring about them.

Wish we actually saw some during Primetime coverage. All we got were Swimming and Track Semis. You had to stay up after News at 10 to get anything good.
