Apparently she speaks fluent Mandarin. Obviously she speaks fluent English, went to American schools from her infancy through now, and did the bulk of her training in the US.
I’m sure she can pass for Chinese for China because of her language skills but its not the same thing.
Compete for Taiwan then. You don’t compete for the CCP. Eileen Gu is fricking traitor and should be treated harshly by her fellow countrymen (which is Americans). Any American in a bar or restaurant with her should walk out and spit on the floor in disgust of her. I speak Mandarin, and I say this (in pinyin): Qù ta made zìji

No, the Japanese treated the Chinese even harsher than Americans during WWII. They killed thousands of civilians for helping Doolittle's crews escape to areas not under occupation. They bombed civilians for fun. It's hard to blame the Chinese for hating Japan. I think that's part of what emboldened NK to kidnap Japanese
My wife and her family are Filipino. They almost disowned her uncle when he started dating a Japanese woman. They've now been married over 50 years and she's part of the family, but it did not go over well with the matriarch who moved the whole family to Salinas post-WWII when it happened.

Times change. And anyone with a nuanced understanding of history doesn't care about your cherrypicked maps that conveniently leave out Taiwan's pre-1600's history, as well as its experiences with Dutch, Spanish, and Japanese rule
That is Republic of China's Official map. You dummy, go to their web site and check it. It is the Official map released by the current gov body.

I dunno what’s worse. The simping for Gu, the racism against her, or the jealousy for signing a mega contract when she’ll prolly never step foot in China again after this.

Her mega contract is a perception and Mr John said it’s paid in Yuan. Her mom is evil for allowing her to give away her freedom for fake numbers on a screen. It almost feels like she was coerced it’s so stupid. Sad actually.

I was cheering for her to eat shite at some point but for frick's sake...it's just a halfpipe event in the olympics. Do people really care this much about someone leveraging dual citizenship to get rich from athletic endeavors?

The IOC refers to Taiwan as "Chinese Taipei". The point being, Eileen Gu ain't skiing for Free China, aka Taiwan. She is an American who chose to represent Communist China.
