Maher has started to moderate a bit and it's made his show watchable. He was right on the money in 2017 when he said only a recession would beat Trump. A recession brought on by the China flu did. And not to make it too political but we weren't nearing a World War under 45. Barely a year in and out foreign policy has gone to shite.
To tie it back in, if 45 was still in office Gu would not be able to straddle the two countries collecting money out of both.

Maybe Trump needs to fly over and resume the Putin dick sucking to straighten things out?

I think she gave up her US citizenship

Trump was much harsher on Russia than joe has been by a large margin. You have bad sources

She absolutely would. And this isn’t a criticism of Trump or Biden in any way.
The US allows dual citizenship. China does not but reserved the right to selectively enforce it. I would bet a good bit of money that Gu never rescinded her US citizenship and wasn’t asked to under her agreement to compete for China.
People with less leverage, like the figure skater from Los Angeles likely dropped her US citizenship though.
If someone doesn’t fill out paperwork to actively drop their citizenship, the only way to lose it as far as I can tell is if Gu joined ISIS, attacked a US military base, etc. Even that may not be enough as John Walker Lindh is still a citizen as far as I can tell.
Gu is not getting any money from the US government. She likely doesn’t qualify for any financial aid at a private university.
There’s really nothing anyone can do, as long as US companies want her to appear in their ads.

quote:That's my point. Sure Meta and Silicon Valley would kiss her arse like they kiss China's but I don't think she'd get many endorsements here. (1/6 really screwed up how 45 is viewed but that doesn't happen if not for the recession. Sure ANTIFA and the BLM crowd would probably create chaos but that would push more support to him.) He was close with business and knew what levers to push for companies more than 100 miles from the oceans. No US ski sponsor, limited modeling bookings, and I think he would have used an EO to prevent her from using to her benefit anything who'd using federal funds. I won't be shocked if she found her way to meeting the senile guy in office now.

Frankly this thread turned the WO board into Poliboard Lite. Anyways trying to sum it up (which I'm sure Hagerbot will come to spout out his propaganda) without the political slant...
She grew up in the US (plenty of kids with money also spend summers abroad.) She sure AF wasn't training for a winter sport in the middle of summer. Thus she used infrastructure supported (directly or indirectly) by US taxpayers to train for the Olympics. An Olympics where she would represent a country who is not just an enemy of the western world but of the planet as well. I don't give a crap about whether she won a gold medal or smashed her face into the lip of the halfpipe. She's an Olympic sports version of Tokyo Rose.

the racism against her
Please. People are upset because China’s leadership is even more corrupt and evil than ours, not because she’s Asian. If she was skiing for Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, or any other civilized Asian nation, a lot fewer people would be up in arms.

Her evil, dead eyes creep me out. You can see the fire of communist zeal bubbling beneath that blank, Stepford smile. reminds me of this fricking lunatic
This was literally shared a page back. Apparently anyone Chinese looking has that communist zeal bubbling below. Gimme a break. I can’t imagine being this up in arms about something that affects exactly no one. Where are the massive 13 page long threads about other athletes going the Chinese National teams for Olympics?

That’s not a nice thing to say, but it’s not racism. People like to label every unkind word or action racism these days. And…

Never saw this sustained vitriol for the LSU pole vaulter or the rest of the US men competing for China.

She was under 18. She can make her decision about US citizenship later.

She is recruited by a lot universities. She picked Standford because Standford has Olympic sports tradition and near her home.

she can stay in china with her peeps. We should revoke her citizenship, allege she is a spy or something like the mfers do us all the time.

I ignored this for the past two weeks. You're either a shitty troll with an alter or a Chinese bot. Anyone who has lived here for more than a couple of years wouldn't have misspelled STANFORD the entire time!

quote:She was born in the US to a Chinese national who was here legally. She's not a spy and her citizenship couldn't be taken away even if she was. However her life should be incredibly difficult. I'm sure there's already an FBI file open on her and any president not named Joe would tell them to be as invasive as legally possible while she's at Stanford. Lean on everybody associated with her there.

So as you can probably surmise, I completely agree with this.

Dude, the FBI has been anti-American since its inception.
