Out of a 9hr day, they looked for tarballs all of 15mins.
<---witnessed it all week
what a waste of money

Yep. This has mostly been a BP subsidized version of American wellfare. I am happy people are working and BP is paying for it, but it is a damn fine joke as far as work ethic is concerned.

Did they find any? Did they get all of them? Where there more that you were finding?

No tar balls in Destin... I was there for a week. Nothing. Not a single black spot. Just got back today

I agree. I watched this bullshite in Gulf Shores and it is a fricking joke. Those people are not doing shite and the boat owners are fricking BP to.

when we were in rosemary, there were thumbnail sized tar balls scattered about. the crews would drive by not looking for a fricking thing.
while the tar balls were not really an issue, the crews did absolutely NOTHING......except go up and down the beach.

Not in the picker uppers defense but if there are no tar balls how are they suppose to pick them up? I would think the businesses would be happy with this scenario. The medias are the ones who should be cleaned up and hauled off for over glorifing the supposedly oil covered beaches. Their exagerrated reporting has scared off more money than the tar balls actually have imo.

The businesses are happy with NO tar balls, but the damage was fricking done months ago and people didn't vacation there. The threat of tar balls caused a 50% drop in the # of vacationers going there. Theyjust went other places.

Now I understand. The cleanup workers were suppose to practice scooping up tarballs when none were around just so they would be in high form if another wave of oil washed ashore. Got it. For a second I was questioning your sanity. My bad.

We found 3, one softball size, the other 2 were about the size of a silver dollar

The clean up workers are just trying to make a buck, so you can't really fault them. BP is forced to pay for this "sham" because of government pressure and to avoid more bad press. It is amazing what people have been lead to believe by the media, talked to some people on the beach in Destin from North Carolina, they were amazed at how the beach had been cleand up, having the impression that weeks before it looked like the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez. A Destin waitress in Destin told me she would like to personally beat the crap out of Anderson Cooper.

I really need to proof read before I click, but in theory I could have talked to a Destin waitress in Orange beach!

Just for the record I was laughing at what she said not the little double Destin thing.

What do you expect, this is the job growth obama talks about. All they are, are recycled census workers. 100% useless.

These are the same people who would in a decent economy be bouncing from job to job in the construction world of condos and beach houses and businesses down there in the panhandle.
Better to do nothing and be paid by BP, than do nothing and be paid by our tax dollars.
On a sidenote, there should be some great deals on used Polaris Rangers and John Deere tractors when all of this is finished.

Its not BP, its the contractors. They make as much per hour from BP as the workers do, plus they get premium rates for all the equipment and supplies they use. It is in their favor for this job to last a long time.
