Well I guess the rumor that there was "some" success with the BOP was inaccurate...

Alabama started deploying booms yesterday or the day before. Consideringthe slcik isn't getting here until Sunday, that's not too bad. This is Politard crap, but Riley is pretty good about being on top of shite like this.

Booms are really one of the only options, but are going to be minimally effective considering the Gulf has 3-8 foot swells or more depending on the wind.

I noticed that. But, in their defense, they really have no fricking clue.

Napolitano should just stop. She's not helping. This is what we get for creating a DHS and putting the Coast Guard in it.

That first response from the chick was straight up laughable. I haven't watched any live stuff before now, but now I understand why every one is hating on BP and their shadyness.

Sadly this is probably right and they have been lying to prevent panic. A well like this is more than capable of those kind of numbers and would even need to be so in order to be worth drilling.

That's what the guy asked about, and the chick responded with "we planned for the worst AND LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE HERE."

Should have never put the fire out IMO or at least had containment booms being strung out in a ring around the vessels fighting the fire.

Yeah, I know. The point was its not like Alabama is just watching slack jawed. And the booms are going to be used inshore, not on the beach in the surf. They're going to let the oil hit the beaches because there isn't enoiugh boom and beaches ain't that hard to clean up. They're going to try to use the booms to keep oil from getting in the estuaries.

The fire went out on its own.

It is too dangerous to put booms around boats fighting a fire.

I think that number is purely speculation. Not any validity to it at this point
