Semi-Substantiated Rumor: BP is not going to be able to shut the BOP. Drilling relief well is last option(besides crazy suction sombrero). 60 days to get DD3 on locale and P&A. No good news.

It has been leaking for what 7 days now and this much oil is already on the surface, can you imagine another 60 more?

This is really, really bad.

I'm seriously about to take off and go fish if the weather gets better. It may be the last time I get to go for a while.

Do they drill into the reservoir or into the well bore?

We need some engineers in here, i'm just a desk jockey.

The rig will be there sooner. It just takes that long to actually do the work.

Fred, where is the rig now? Do you know where it is coming from?

Is it even in the GOM?

I was gonna say thats a misleading term. Yes that bore will be a P&A, but they're not gonna leave it.

It's like when you twist off in the bottom of the hole. Trip it back up, case it, and go around. Extremly costly...

Supposedly they pulled it off of Atlantis. I saw a report that it was due on location to spud tomorrow according to this:

Macondo

Also some interesting new stuff about how the crew tried to activate the BOP but could not get it to shut the well in. If true this doesn't look good for Cameron.

edit: I had seen Atlatis earlier but this article indicates it is coming off Thunderhorse.
