I heard rumors this might be the start to Gulf Coast Recovery Act which is tens of billions of dollars for coastal restoration.

I know I feel better.

I hope that in his speech he says what American company will get the contract for the new printing press for the money to pay for his grand ideas.

Honestly what is he going to say to change anyone's perception of his handling of this disaster?

Bush's fault...

MMS too cozy w/ "big oil"

Bush/Cheney...Halliburton

Overreliance on oil...lead the green technologies...China...Germany...

Essentially, he's going to recycle much of the same stupid shite that he said at his abortion of a press conference back in May.

Probably something along these lines will find its way into the address as well.

Just to let everyone in the nation know the situation here in the Gulf coast and how much important it is to the rest of the United States.

Also establishing a funding mechanism for unemployed fisherman.

This oil spill is of national significance but also reminding the nation that BP will be footing 100% bill.

Especially regarding the MMS being too cozy, I thought I heard on "the news" (can't remember which channel which makes a difference I'm sure) that the OBAMA administration signed off on this project ... right or wrong?

And has Obama taken any money from "big oil"? Not blaming, just asking.

I will be on a party barge on the Lake of the Ozarks at that time. Mud, should I adjust my schedule to partake of his wisdom on the situation.

I value your opinion.

Not really, enjoy your vacation.

A lot of political mumbo jumbo and hot air. Which is pretty much the case regardless of political party.

Yeah, I've been listening to both for over 58 years. Didn't make much sense when I was a year old and makes even less sense now.

I'll stay on the boat.

However, this is the building block for a Gulf Coast Restoration Act (which oil companies contribute to) for wetland restoration which is desperately needed.

Also a building block for Louisiana to get more royalties from the oil.

Carville has really been speaking up lately about how Louisiana doesnt receive a single penny from oil six miles and beyond off the coast.

I thought that was going to change in 2017 but now there is a huge push to get it in now.

From an article in our local paper this morning:

Firm gets 48 hours to offer new plan
DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE PRESS SERVICES

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The Coast Guard has demanded that BP step up its efforts to contain the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the weekend, telling the British oil giant that its slow pace in stopping the spill is becoming increasingly alarming.
The Coast Guard sent a letter to BP’s chief operating officer that said the company urgently needs to pick up the pace and present a better plan to contain the spill by the time President Barack Obama arrives Monday for his fourth visit to the coast. The letter, released Saturday, follows nearly two months of tense relations between BP and the government.
The letter’s release occurred on the same day that waves of brown surf hit the shores in Orange Beach, Ala., leaving piles of oil that dried in the sun and extended up to 12 feet from the water’s edge for miles.
It was the worst yet to hit Alabama beaches. Tarlike globs have washed up periodically throughout the disaster, but Saturday’s pollution was significantly worse.

Just wondering why this mandate was just now announced. Could it be that the oil on the beaches will be hitting Fla. soon and BO is getting nervous about losing votes? Seems as if you guys in La. don't rate very high with Barry.
