Zuck Uncucked - Meta Cutting 5% of Low Performers

How badly does one have to suck to be in the bottom 5% at a company like Meta?

Meta Platforms (META.O) will trim about 5% of its "lowest performers" and plans to hire for the impacted roles this year, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also warned employees about more such job cuts this year to "raise the bar" on performance management, the spokesperson said.
The Facebook parent had a total workforce of more than 72,000 as of Sept. 30. Many tech companies, including Cisco (CSCO.O) and IBM (IBM.N) have been looking to redirect investments into artificial intelligence technology. Meta has also poured billions into AI-related infrastructure, with its expenses expected to grow this year.
The social media company initiated several restructuring changes in 2022, resulting in around 11,000 job cuts. Zuckerberg had also called 2023 the "Year of Efficiency" as Meta announced its decision to eliminate around 10,000 roles.
Last week, the company scrapped its U.S. fact-checking program and reduced curbs on discussions around contentious topics such as immigration and gender identity, bowing to conservative pushback ahead of Republican Donald Trump's return to the U.S. presidency.

I couldn’t imagine what a Monday morning in person Meta meeting would be like. Pronoun smoothies

Only 5%? Not enough Zuck.

That crazy son of a bitch is gonna fire all the women

Just 5%? A reminder that Elon cut 80%.

No he’s being a pussy. He needs to fire way, way more people than 5%. A reminder of my glorious thread of the Snap when Elon fired half of Twitter in his first week: TD

Probably not a good look to be celebrating job cuts

Crazy to think Facebook and Instagram employ 72,000 people.
I mean Tigerdroppings gets by with like half that many.

So what's the correct number, in your expert opinion?

frick these people. Seriously, these are evil, evil people. These are the same people that gloated and said that coal miners deserved to be fired and that they should simply learn to code. These are also the same scumbags who banned people who mocked the journalists that said others should learn to code because journalists are obviously better people than coal miners.
No, Mark Zuckerberg is being a pussy right now and should fire pretty much everyone at Facebook if he wishes to avoid prison for actively rigging an election. He’s a piece of shite who should be in prison too, but if he wants to show he’s had a true change of heart, he will do everything to META as Elon did to Twitter.
The good news with Mark Zuckerberg’s rigging of the 2020 Election is that Trump is back with a far, far more competent, loyal, and determined administration than he would have had had he won in 2020, so we should thank him for that. So I will accept his surrender and pardon. But he needs to do way more than this before we do. Almost everyone must go in the same way Elon purged Twitter.

Whatever Elon did, which is around 80%, and even that’s probably too little and has had little saboteurs in his ranks still.

I don’t have an opinion as to weather 5% of their workforce needs to be fired, simply because I don’t know what a single one’s performance level is.
I will say that if this thread title is original, you should win a Pulitzer for it!

Hasn't he already canned the content moderation team?
You realize meta is like several orders of magnitude more complex and bigger than twitter was, right?

It’s a hive of termites. If your exterminator only got rid of 5% of them, you’d never use him again.

Meh. The cucked zuck laid off way more than 5% in 2022 and in 2023

I think I read he may have terminated as many as 93% of Twitter employees, which is awesome. Elon sits upon Twitter with it being as competent and more popular than ever.

Well I find it’s AI division inherently evil as well. Like so inherently evil that it may intentionally wipe out humanity if it gets the power and intelligence with the morals of its leaders. So, yeah, fire them too in the very least.

If we banned you from posting X person/thing is evil we'd wipe out like 94% of your posts

Nah, just evil has gotten too comfortable openly revealing itself. We need to defeat it to the point of it going back into the shadows and from there remaining eternally vigilant… but that’s the strong men generation and we’re in the weak men stage now.

Why do you orgasm to job cuts. Job cuts sometimes ( and now a days) lead to loss of income, that leads to hardships, families getting destroyed, lives getting ruined. This is not like football coaches getting a mult-million dollar buyout.
Also how would you like if your job was cut or economic trends ruined your business.
Corporate millionaire CEOs cut jobs...common workers blead from those cuts.
In short they cut...you bleed.
Also cheering someone else misfortune is not a good thing....The same misfortune may befall us some day.
