Zip up those pants before washing them.

32 years old and learned something new today from my grandmother. I did some laundry and she switched my clothes from dryer to washer for me and scolded me for not zipping my pants because the zippers can snag holes in other clothes. This was new info to me and solved the mystery of how some clothes come out with random holes in them.

I was today many years old when I finally learned this.

Interesting. I’ve been finding mysterious holes in my t-shirts for years.

But I never thought about doing that

Gloryholes are better than random holes

You ought to be taking meemaw out to brunch instead of making her wash your clothes.

And maybe you should teach her to put clothes in the washer first, then the dryer second.

That's funny, I've only ever seen your grandma unzipping pants.

I’ve never zipped them up and I’ve never seen a mysterious hole in any clothes.

Grandmothers today came from a generation where they just did domestic chores naturally without being asked or told. It's not a hamper or burden to them, just a way of life.
I'm not saying make them do it, but sometimes they'll just come visit and they immediately get to doing things like cleaning, asking if you want food, etc.
I have to tell my grandmother no like a billion times and try to get her to relax and visit.
Just incredible how much things have changed.

Yep. Good advice. Same goes for anything with Velcro. Make sure you fasten them or they’ll rip stuff up too.

Here’s another fun laundry factoid:
Turn your dress pants and dress shorts inside out before laundering them.
It helps preserve the “leading edges” (pockets, seams, etc.) from wearing thin and showing the piping inside.
This is especially true on darker-colored fabrics.

Wash them twice because you definitely pissed yourself a little bit before you could get the fly open.
