Only state offices closed tomorrow are in Grand Isle. So the state thinks that this "hurricane" is total nonsense?

Governor Roberto has a press conference at 3:00. In the past, if there are going to be a large number of state office closures, they issue that right after the presser. It's kind of weird to issue the Grand Isle thing...I guess we will see what happens later this evening...

"Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne is announcing that state offices in Grand Isle will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 28, in preparation for Hurricane Zeta."

I think we could get gusts up to that level for sure.

Gotta say it so the employees can leave the island without worrying about missing work. It's dumb but has to be done.

Ascension is going to close a noon tomorrow. It just hasn't been officially posted, but everyone knows it.
Inside information or pure speculation?

Down in St. Bernard everyone will be doing school at home tomorrow and maybe Thursday. Elementary and middle Kids are coming home today with their school issued chromebooks and will need to work remotely tomorrow and maybe Thursday. Kids without internet at home will get paper assignments.
High school kids on hybrid who was supposed to be on campus tomorrow will have zoom. That may happen Thursday as well.
I think they have been told any more closures will need to be made up, so that’s why they are doing this.

As I recall when I watched Levi last night he talked about the storm intensifying after it exited Yucatan. But it sure looks like it has weakened since then
He's right but it takes a little while after a storm leaves land for it to be able to restrengthen. It's got to get the boundary layer with the surface fully saturated again. Until it does, it can't pull up as much heat and moisture into the system.
This process typically takes at least 12 hours. Don't worry, Levi knows this.
I expect the strengthening to begin again tonight. It'll have until tomorrow early afternoon to increase the winds.

Levi said that too... it would take some time to remoisten the lower level but it would then start to intensify again

It always takes some time to remoisten the lower level.

Thank God Duke is back. This thread devolved into a shite fight at the zoo without one of the resident experts.

Don't worry,
Thanks for the explanation.

it's the one time playing in the mountains can help quicken the moistening of the lower levels
