In north AL, we are getting more wind from the front than Zeta brought us. Steady at 18-20 with a gust of 32.
Scratch that. Steady at 28 with a gust to 39. And it is a cold wind.

Stout, how's your house coming along?
My house was practically unscathed outside of some Hardiplank. About 12 sq ft missing

The past 3 weeks there have a ton of people in Houston loading up on shingles and driving back to Louisiana. Even the Lowes in Houston are getting slammed.
Yea I have just been ordering shingles by 18 wheeler loads unless the customer wants a custom color. Black, Grey, or Weatheredwood, and I usually have it. I need more crews, though. We are booked solid for now.

His camp must be off Deer Bayou. That's the only guy I know that lives out there. We talked to him for a good while on Sunday. good ole baw.
Yep that’s him. He’s actually from our hometown so we know his family. We usually trade him our hardhead which he uses for bait for some crabs while we are there. Usually some pretty good fishing off the porch of my buddy’s camp.

Still no power to some of the Ft Morgan Peninsula.

Does anyone have any word on ATT outages? Specifically in Destrehan. Had power return at 10pm last night, along with internet and cable. However internet and cable have been out since the morning. Just very strange.

I can’t believe this thing made landfall 24 hours ago and is already on the NE coast.

Think I seen that there are still close to 400k without power in Bama.
Our power came back right at 5pm tonight in central Alabama.

Winds have picked up in NJ in the last couple of hours. Just went and walked one of the dogs and it was too windy for him.

That gap on the wind map between the 58 and 70 with no reports is right where I am. That 101 is on the same track as my location for the eyewall. I’ve heard of several unofficial reports mostly from boats docked in Bayou Lafourche of gusts in the 120s and higher.
Trees and structures that survived Katrina Gustav and Andrew in southern Lafourche Parish were broken, uprooted or damaged by Zeta.
Zeta was a compact storm that had a sharp pressure gradient within about 25 miles from the center.

ATT outages?
I think I have Bingo on my OT Hurricane Bingo card.
Every storm every major outage is with the area’s worst cell provider AT&T.
Biggest issue with them as most have explained is that, AT&T does not have standby generators at most of their sites. They depend on batteries to get them through the first several hours or a day into the event with the hope that they can deploy portable generators to their sites within a reasonable timeframe. Verizon on the other hand has standby generators at most sites.

I went down there to get a look at the damage. No major damage at my house, but I did have a tree that was uprooted and did not hit the house. A few shingles were missing. I road down to Golden Meadow and saw lists of roof and tree damage. Several power poles were down and cracked and leaning. I even saw one car in the middle of the road that was hit by a downed power pole.
I could not imagine what some people went through thinking that this was going to be a minor storm and be done with it. And then once storm blew through the winds were way stronger than what they anticipated.
You can even gauge by the Entergy Outages map at how small this storm was. You can draw a line from East Houma to Lockport, and then to New Orlean to see where the storm’s eyewall path was.
