Worked sales for a small family owned company that was mainly commissioned based. After knocking it out the park for three years in a row the owner concluded I was overpayed. They took some of my bigger accounts and made them “corporate accounts” and they didn’t get commission from those sales.

The company I worked for told everyone in September they had to get vaccinated by December 23rd or they were fired and encouraged those who wanted to request exemptions to get them in.

They refused to grant any exemptions, and when over 20% of their 8,000 person company still weren’t vaccinated on December 23rd, instead of firing everyone they pushed the date back to May. The week after bonuses in March, me and a large portion of my office all put in our notice.

Supervisor had me work overtime, manager cut the overtime pay from my check, said it “Wasn’t approved.” I tried to get the supervisor to do the right thing and back me up, the spineless chicken shite SOB took the managers side, “All overtime has to be approved by the dept manager.” WTF, So now it’s my job to call my bosses boss to get approval when my boss wants me to work overtime? Why even have a supervisor?

Anyway

Filed a grievance and the union got my overtime paid out. It pissed the manager off to no end. Supervisor tried to act like nothing happened, I gave that douche the cold shoulder till he got promoted to a different dept.

Similar situation for my wife (nudes on reddit).

During her initial job interview at a mid-sized mom/pop operation, they asked the 5 year question, and she said she'd be making six figures. They (the owner and the GM conducting the interview) cackled, and said you are hired, but temper your expectations.

Year 1- six figures
Year 2- six figures
Year 3- six figures
Year 4- six figures

Owner and GM say she's making too much, need to restructure her contract.

She quits (she's a firecracker).

Two months later they beg her to come back and give her a raise and co-ownership of the company.

deeprig9 profits.

my husband's company did something similar, then dropped the requirement all together

Had he known this he would not have gotten a vaccine that was rushed through to production like that but he is a long tenured employee and losing his job was not an option.

Not abuse but just the stupidity of a former boss. I was stationed in Germany for two years and then Wyoming for my last 2.5 years. I was in Wyoming during 9/11 and later on, a guy I worked with in Germany ended up working with me in Wyoming. He was home on leave during 9/11 so our flight sgt back in Germany calls him at his house in New Mexico and tell him he has been recalled back to work and has 48 hours to report. Only problem was all flights were grounded. He told the flight sgt that he would be on the first flight when they opened them back up.

Flight Sgt told him that wasn't going to work and that he needed to rent a car and drive back. My buddy started laughing thinking it was a joke. Flight Sgt wasn't laughing and went into a tirade when he asked him how could he physically drive across the Atlantic Ocean.

Our entire department got outsourced at a job I worked in the mid 1990’s. The company tried to do the right thing by providing ample notice, a generous severance, and allowing us to job hunt on company time. They sent us the severance package details in a Word doc that ended up having some sort of virus. No one knew until we started sending out resumes to potential employers and their antivirus programs picked it up. Needless to say, the first round of resumes we sent out were deleted without being read.

Right out of college, had a boss that proof read every correspondence that I created. She would return it with red ink all over it . Like a HS English paper. I would make her updates and resubmit... It would come back in with more red ink. I would make my changes and resubmit again and it would pass.
Occasionally I would resubmit my original draft on the third effort just to see what would happen...and only once did she not pass it. She just had a chip on her shoulder. She was the only female manager in predominantly male role and she just liked the power. She did other pretty things like that
I left that company and in the exit interview...HR advised that they should have put a female in that position.

Used to teach at an alternative school. The principal threatened to fire me if I didn't strip search a kid for bubble gum. I called his bluff.

I'm in that situation right now to say NO. I manage a team. My VP is asking my team to take load of another team. It's like we are getting punished for being efficient while the other team AVP is doing a the whole George Constanza (Appearing to be overwhelmed)

It's a weird situation. I don't want to say NO but say NO.

My first job in high school I worked with this girl who had a crush on me. We hung out one weekend and I decided I wasn’t interested and rejected her advances when she cornered me drunk at a party.

The next week I got called into the office to speak with the GM. She proceeded to tell me that I was reported to her by a fellow employee for sexual harassment and was being terminated.

She wouldn’t listen to anything I had to say nor was I allowed to plead my case. I was utterly shocked and couldn’t believe the charges.

Not knowing anything about legal recourse or the law concerning firing someone in the way I was. I was embarrassed and couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone besides my parents that I got accused of sexual harassment. Looking back I should have went to see a lawyer.

Not me but shite company had two employees out to interview a guy several hours away over a legal issue, late afternoon. Well into the interview, the guy mentions that he tested positive for tuberculosis. They freak out and leave and are at the nearest hospital getting tests run and cleared and don’t get home until like 4 am. shite boss says Cool, yeah, you can go ahead and come in late, for 10:30.

I worked at a retail store in college. A customer took a huge shite in the changing room and the supervisor told me to clean it up. I said I don’t get paid enough for that. They ended up doing it themselves

Not as bad as a lot of people, but In my much younger years I worked for ten months in the maintenance department for a hospital. The maintenance manager was an old fart who should have been put out to pasture years before. I think he was just hanging around so he wouldn’t have to be home with his old lady. She had Alzheimer’s pretty bad, and would call two or three times a day all confused. If he was around (he often disappeared for hours at a time) he talked to her like shite on the phone. He was lazy, delegated everything to the assistant manager, and cussed out his employees. He would throw anyone and everyone under the bus to cover his own arse. When the hospital got a new director, the maintenance manager was eventually asked to “retire” aka resign because they were ready to investigate his arse. The morale of the place was shot to hell so I got out when I could.

Worked at a gas station convenience store where the owner would deduct from your paycheck if your register was short. Never happened to me but happened to a friend. It would be easy to be short because you had to ring people up, make food, stock the store, and make sure people weren’t stealing gas. Prime location but owner couldn’t make a living there because he was an a-hole.

I was going fishing one weekend and the boss said I needed to take a cell phone incase some issue came up. Of course I told him that was not going to happen. The nerve of some bosses and their employee abuses is criminal.
