Getting yelled at for someone else getting in trouble. Anyone in the military has experienced this though.

I worked shift work when I was 18. The 8 hour shifts were 6-2, 2-10, 10-6. I got a call at 2 in the morning to pull overtime, since I was the new guy and we were Union. I should have worked 2-2 making 12 hours. I was sent home for 4 hours at 9 in the morning and made to come back at 2 in the evening and work till 6 in evening. I did but at 6 was made to stay until 10 at night.

I worked at a retail store in the mall in college. Owner was an old white guy. I was there a couple weeks and a black man walks in and asks questions about a product. I couldn’t answer his questions so I got the owner. Owner talked to him quickly and the black guy left. Owner calls me over and says “if you ever send another n word my way, I’ll fire your arse.” No called no showed the next day and quit.

I've only had one employer do something stupid to me in 30 years of working.
I was 15 and working my first summer job. Had to be there at 6:00AM and it was hard work. I didn't care. It was a job and I was happy to be working.

One day the owner (new money pretend rich snob) came up to me and said he saw that I was supposed to be off the next day, but he wanted me to come in. I told him my dad and I were supposed to go fishing and he said he didn't think that was important and needed me to come to work.

Later that day I left for lunch with a coworker and we went to Mr. Gattis. I dropped the coworker off back at work and told him to tell the owner that I quit.

Worked at a call center a lifetime ago. Supervisor was a woman that would always flirt with me. I was in a committed relationship so I would play down her advances. It felt like I was always called to her office for something, and it would just be an excuse to flirt. All my coworkers knew it and one day I just had enough and turned her down. She made my work life shite after that. Getting written up for dumb stuff, getting shite shifts, yelled at in front of my coworkers Finally I found another job and just didn't show up to work.

Crazy thing is, she had big ole door hangers and I would've broken her back if I wasn't in a relationship

Was working with the consulting partner trying to budget the staffs time for the next week. As part of the planning, told her how I’d been working 60+ hours a week and the 3 staff members under me were struggling to get 40, and my plans to balance it out. Looked at me stone face and said that’s by design since I’m a CPA, I’m free after 40. Following weeks started giving me shite for “leaving before her” at 7pm, and heard her tell her husband (one of my staff members) that she hangs out in the office to “make me work late”.

Resumes were going out to every company that even remotely looked like I may be qualified for that weekend. Had to deal with that shite for another month before landing my next job

When I was younger, I worked at a plant for a company that shall go unnamed, that stuck it to it's workforce regularly. One of the carrots they offered their workers was a production bonus if the plant met a certain production output target..

Well the target was never hit, because every other Friday, the company shut the plant down for "Down Day". Which was under the guise of safety and maintenance inspections. It guaranteed that the production bonus target was never hit. By some miracle, if we all had our heads on straight, nothing needed fixing and we attempted to get the plant back up and running before 5 PM. They would keep it shut down with repeat inspections or "important" meetings. You were not going to get that production bonus.

They also had safety bonuses that were dependent on no injuries at the job site. I shite you not, if you got a tiny cut and a plant section boss found out, up would go the "O days without an accident" sign.

The few months I worked there, never saw a production bonus or a safety bonus ever doled out. I quit after 6 months and never looked back.

Had some clown supervisor always try to make us come in on our days off. He was 48 but somehow looked 78. He would always threaten your job if you declined. Most of us came in since we were young and didn't know any better. They also paid well and gave us OT.

But they ended up taking away all OT because people were abusing it. He came to me on a Thursday afternoon (I was off Fri-Sun) and asked if I could come in Saturday and Sunday since we were behind on orders. I asked if we could get OT again and he said no. I then asked how would that work if I came in. His exact words were "well, just come in and not get paid".

I declined, got threatened my job again and was told that I wasn't a team player. I told him I didn't work for free. He ended up working all weekend by himself and did not get paid.

You're bringing up weird memories of my first oilfiled management job. The married boss would use our apartments to screw women he met at bars. One evening you're there having a beer with the guy, a few nights later he'd pounding on the door at midnight telling you to leave. Happened to several of us.

Dude you have been a huge pussy your entire adult life. I wouldn't put up with that at 18

I worked for a narcissist and sociopath for 6 years.

Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

For years I’d go to this fundraiser or that banquet with the guy and sit at his table. Watched him check into many a hotel with women that were not his wife.

We were always cordial, but he’s one of those guys where you know the tables will flip on you at any moment.

On the day it finally did, I handed my notice to him and told him what an evil piece of shite he was.

Thought about calling his wife and clueing her in on his improprieties, but thought better of it.

When I was 16 I worked at a local fast food place. One day, a guy had a heart attack in the parking lot and died. Not sure how it happened but he bled a lot in the parking lot, and my manager made me go out there and mop it up.

I quit a week or two later.
