I’m all for homework if it’s review from the day of. Some teachers send home shite for a grade and there’s no tools to help figure it out. And it’s always the teachers that are constantly posting passive aggressive shite on FB about how all parents are pieces of shite.

Why can't homework time BE family time?

Dumb arse dad is too busy stalking the teachers social media for thinly veiled personal attacks to deal with that homework. LOL

My 10 year old has way less homework than my 20 year old did, it’s not even close. Personally I think that’s directly related to the introduction of a personal computer for every child, but that’s my own experience. It’s not any different than it was 30 years ago, some kids will take care of business and other’s won’t.

It could just be my anecdotal experience, but Americans seem to be growing less and less concerned about education.
Not Asian Americans…

College admissions and scholarships
Like a white, 18 year old male has any shot at anything besides the white male scholarship these days. The chances of Ivy League are small, and do you really want them going there in the first place? Talk about a not-grounded education.
Instate admissions takes anyone not a dumbass. I went through undergrad, now grad school, and I'll be honest, most of it can be learned through experience. College is sadly a check box for most industries. Besides maybe a lawyer, doctor, or engineer, I think "college" needs to be rebranded, and not as expensive because the product isn't worth the charge.

Well, if you want your kids to go to have a good ACT score and go to college, they will need to be taking courses that require a good bit of homework.
Where do you people come up with this stuff....

I don't see how you can look at our current educational system, compare it to the rest of the developed world, and think it's perfectly fine.
You can thank the teachers unions for this.

There are those that want to get ahead, and then there are those who complain about the steps it takes to get ahead.

We can’t stop teachers from giving kids STD’d as it stands now.
You think you can get them to stop giving homework?

are far too willing to place the burden of education on parents and out of school work
And?
Think of all the honor students you graduated with. Do you think that was because they were just taught so well or because they had a home life and at least one parent that helped them? If you are a parent, YOU are responsible for how your child turns out.
My brother and I were read to every single night as we went to bed. We were brought to the library and to Barnes & Noble often and were expected to read. We were expected to and happy to participate in science and social studies fair projects. We were also expected to cut grass, sweep, mop, do laundry, dishes, and both began cooking at very young ages (8 or younger).
I will always know and understand that I was more educated at home than I was in the classroom and my work ethic throughout life is a direct reflection of the accountability that I faced at home.
Anyone that thinks their children should be fully educated from our education system with minimum effort from the parent is just a shitty parent.
My parents are far more responsible for my education from grades K-9 (at least) than any teacher.

They're doing the not much homework thing in Scandinavia and South Korea, and they're fine as far as education is concerned.
