Was this really a common perception?

The answer is no, no matter how bad Roger wants to perpetuate that narrative.

Nope. When I graduated high school in 1988 I’d just enlisted in the army and was just two weeks away from shipping off to Fort Knox, KY. I fully expected to get to Germany and have WWIII break out while I was there. Needless to say I much prefer how things actually turned out.

Never had a vision per se. I just wanted to make some money, see the world, lots of sex and retire to the mountains. Checked first 3 boxes and I’ll retire in 3 years . Happy happy

Not sure that at the age of 18 I had any clue where I thought my life would be in 30 years.

I'm happy with everything in my life...except for my career. I'm in that mid-30's "what the hell do I want to do with my life" phase. Not sure I want to continue down the path I'm on, but my degree and training so far has me at this point. To do anything else would mean starting at the bottom again.

Thankfully, no. It is much better than I could have ever imagined when I was eighteen years old.

I am so far removed from the guy who graduated HS in 1960. That was real poverty and it was prevalent in the rural South at that time. The thought of a college degree at that time was fantasy land.

Nope.

Not that I am necessarily complaining..but I thought I would be married with kids by now most likely. Feel a little behind that..tinder distracted me for a few years.

I was pretty sure I would be six feet under by now, so nope.
