I don't like railings around Windows but I am also talking about a porch thing where a window is but it is not meant for you to stand or go out onto it.

I love adobe style homes as well. My parents live in New Mexico and have a house like that.

I'm also partial to steel-framed, modern style homes.

The only downside is proximity to neighbors.

Yea, but that's pretty common in New Orleans around the St. Charles area.

So, that said, from strictly curb appeal, what style of home do you like most?

you talking about railings around an upper story window, or like a second story porch that never gets used? i love upstairs porches but realize they rarely get used.

You see, I would actually love this feature (assuming my Master Bed would be upstairs and this balcony would walk outside of my room) so that I can shoot my bow naked off the upper balcony from a realistic vantage point. Right now, I live in a subdivision and I have to climb on my roof (not naked) to shoot my bow at a downward angle into my back yard. I assume just opening the window would serve the same purpose, but I wouldn't be able to air out my nuts.

I had a balcony off my room in my house growing up. It was only used to piss off of in the middle of the night

Beautiful homes. I'm good with French provincial or even French country.

My wife and I will be breaking ground in a couple weeks on a version of this. It's a mixture of a few different styles but I think it will look good in a wooded setting....which is where it will be.

I would LOVE an actual porch on the upper floor. Go out there every morning to drink coffee. Damn. Sounds like heaven.

I'm just not a fan of stone on a house.

Not sure why

As would I. I think I would really love that because the end goal is country acreage with a nice pond. The only thing that I'd be concerned about is having the Master Bed upstairs and the kid's rooms downstairs. I would be overly anxious constantly about it. Any people thought about this and what did you decide?

From a practical neighborhood standpoint, this is me without a doubt. Give me some nice bay windows, good wood trim, nice carpenter elements, and I'm happy. I despise the Acadian style that's all the rage in Louisiana. Stucco and brick is just so boring and repetitive.

Now in a purely utopian area where I have no HOA and can do whatever I want, I definitely love the modern industrial houses with the long horizontal lines in the girders and cantillevers and the steel, concrete and wood materials.
