always disliked them... not a religious or moral reason... but there is an uncomfortable aura, as a guy, in a strip club...
if you are too overzealous and into it, you look like a grade A pervert... if you are too laid back and look kinda disinterested, you look gay... there's not really a middle ground... it's weird

Sounds like a good plan.
I used to frequent them and have nothing against them. I always had fun. A place for guys to hang out drinking and looking at attractive girls. Tip a few. Keep a few around your table to talk with. But my last trip (15 years ago?) soured me a bit, because many of the patrons were women. This was always a guys santuary.
As long as you go in with the right mindset. Go to the higher end, nicer clubs, not a shady one, located in a rough area. Know they are there to make money first. Don't overspend or get carried away thinking this one really likes you or that by spending more will get you more. Leave and head home without going overboard on cash, drinks and expectations.
If I was a younger man and still a drinker, I'd probably go visit one occasionally.
